Ta Ta For Now, Desert!

Friday, June 27th: Tata for now desert!

TGIF!

Today we wished one of our fond friends farewell.  N celebrated his final day with the buds class by throwing a dance party and singing his favorite song “ I had a little turtle”!  He has grown so much since joining us and we will all miss him very very much as he goes on to new adventures! See you N!

Today our friends discovered some new loose parts on top of the table! we added in Play-Doh that looked like desert sand to the mix. There were loads of different combinations we could create by adding play to the rocks like glue and wooden sticks to make houses for desert animal friends!

We added some colorful dot stickers to our cactuses to resemble flowers! They are a colorful oasis, to be celebrated one last time against the dense brown of the desert sands for this week!

In the free play area, we worked together to create a huge network of amazing train tracks! They curved and dashed across the floor! It was lots of fun to share track pieces with our friends and explore different track combinations. What a great way to exercise problem solving! These engineers are an impressive lot!

Once we settled down for circle time, we went on the hunt for our name cards! K noticed his as Brandon held it up and said “Ko Ko”.

N- “K, N, N, R, L, T and S

R-” No-no for N and T”

K- “K, E and S”

T- happily recognized and picked out his name card with ease!

Everyone reviewed saying “hot, hot, hot!” when we heard the word “desert” spoken by the teachers. Our Buds friends remembered to wave their hands as if fanning themselves off from the desert heat!

As we began story time, the Buds were very excited to see a new animal book “Animal Sounds” by Eric Carle! We spied all sorts of animals, from cats to lions and were asked to help remind the teachers what sound they make!

N- “Meow, woof-woof, roar and baaa!”

L- “Quack, quack!”

R- “ROAR!”

Before we knew it, it was time for a snack! We put energy in our bodies and geared up for some extended water play! The animals were calling us all to come and splash but uh oh! We noticed there were some hidden treasure rocks at the bottom of the water! We all did our best to retrieve them but we got SUPER wet when we dropped them back in! SPLASH!

We hope everyone has enjoyed this really hot second week of summer school and greatly look forward to next week where we will trek through the mountain habitats!

Have a great weekend and stay cool!

Lots of love,

Buds XOXO
