Soccer

April 7, 2026

Happy Tuesday! We spent the day inside building our school omikoshi and making decorations for Earth Day! April is going to be a fun month!

QUESTION OF THE DAY

E & R: Do you like sports?

Only J said no because, “It’s not fun.”

The rest of us listed the sports that we like and play.

H: Baseball

E: Soccer, football, and basketball.

R: Swimming and fencing.

T: Soccer

K: I like Sports Day

R explained what fencing is, because we didn’t know it.

R: Fencing looks like a knife, and there’s a white thing here that protects you and it will not hurt you. If you touch the other player there, you get a point.

Because K and E said that they wanted to be a soccer player when they grow up, we learned more about playing soccer today. First we shared what we already know.

P: You can’t use hands.

I: Can’t use hands.

E: You can use your feet, belly, head.

Before actually kicking a ball, we warmed up with some stretches and footwork drills. Then we practiced passing and hitting the ball with our heads! Next we set up some a goal and tried kicking the ball in between the markers for a point! Then we put a goalkeeper in front of the goal and tried some penalty kicks. We were quite good at all of the these things, so we decided to play a game.

We split into teams of three and rotated whenever a team scored a goal!

Team 2 with T, H, and P won the first match.

Team 3 with E, E, and A managed to win the most games overall, but it was Team 1 with R, I, and K who won the final game. J cheered on all teams from the sidelines!

We realized how many great soccer players we have in flowers class with lots of talented keepers, strikers, and defenders.

After the game we learned about being a good sport.

H: We say, ‘good game!’

R: To your team and the other team.

E: We line up and give high fives to the other team.

We lined up and said ‘good game’ to each other before eating lunch together.

Love,

Flowers
