Sharing is Nice!

A fantastic Friday to everyone!

To end our busy week, we added finishing touches to our Grandparents’ Gift. We also had our very first dance class with Maryna. It was a lot of fun moving with our friends!

E: Can we crawl? I have such a big spot!

J: We don’t punch

J: We have a big circle if we punch…. We don’t punch

M: I am sleepy

L: I want the floor is lava

M: we stop moving (for freeze dance)

P: That’s so silly! It sounds silly

E: Can we play games? (with Maryna)

What do we say to Maryna?

W: Arigatou!

E: We dance on our spot

After dancing, we gathered in a circle to talk about what we needed to do during circle time. We all agreed that we should sit on our bottoms, keep our hands to ourselves, use our listening ears, and raise our hand quietly if we want to say something. We then played a short game to practice sitting. While sitting on our bottoms, we kept a balloon up in the air by tapping it. It was a little tricky, but it was fun!

Flowers: Check! (sitting nicely)

R: What game?

S: I know that game! (after he saw the balloon)

M: we have to tap, no catch

E: Can we play this on Grandparent’s Day

T: Ok!

Question of the day: Can we share?

J: Yes. I share with my cat at home. Can I say more? I have a lot of pets!

S: Yes, so people are happy

M: If someone has nothing, you can share.

K: No… I change my mind

Next, we read, Pig the Pug, a story that helped us think about sharing. To explore this further, we acted out little role plays about using gentle hands. During this time, Evita showed us toys she brought from home. First, she grabbed a toy and asked us how it made us feel when someone takes without asking. Then we talked about what happens if we don’t use gentle hands. Toys can break and our friends can feel sad. This helped us understand why sharing and using our gentle hands is so important.

E: Not everyone will have a toy.

Flowers: no thank you (kinder way of saying “No thank you”)

Together we reflected on some important questions.

What should we do if we don’t’ listen to teacher (grabs, hit and not use gentle hands)?

S: Tell the teacher

M: Say no thank you. Tell Shelley?

J: A friend will go away

E: (If )friend is not listening (still)…

J: If another needs to go to the chair, the other can sit

S: You can cry and have a break

E: Call the police (if a friend still doesn’t want to listen)

R: We could hold and call the police.

E: punch! Office?

R: We go upstairs (Office)
