Happy Thursday!
On a bright but cool Thursday we started our day at Ohana. At the back of the room we had the people toys and the cars for some imaginative play. Y, S, I and H enjoyed playing with the different people
On the front table was the popular orange play doh to help us develop our hand eye coordination. A, L, M and I spent some time at this table making cupcakes and snakes.
We also had the bristle blocks out for the first time in a while to develop our motor and problem solving, R and L especially enjoyed this table with their friend A.
When A arrived her friend M was so helpful, she sat with her and tried to help her put on her shoes, wow what a great friend she is.
L, I, A and R brought in some pennies for our penny wars, well done girls, it was so wonderful to see you all dropping the coins in and exploring the older classes to put in their notes, it was exciting!
Today at circle time we started exploring the idea of volume control with four different types of voices shown by animals. An ant voice, a rabbit voice, a lion voice and an elephants voice. We practised each one of those voices and used the words big and small. We discussed what situations to use which type of voice. Then put all of our knowledge to work when we sang the “Pink Fong Freeze Dance” a song that has lots of shouting and lots of whispering.
After that we all sat very nicely in a circle and it was time to do some practise for our Sweet potato digging next week. Lucy introduced three stations. We had a shovel where we practiced scooping up colored pastas with tamara. We had a short garden rake to practice scraping little pieces of rice with brandon. With Liezel we had a pulling activity where we pulled a string and ten sweet potatoes came out. These activities were great for our developing motor skills as well as helping our little Buds know what to expect on Wednesday.
After that fun activity it was time for a story that related to this theme of gardening “The Surprise Garden”. It was so nice to see the tools we previously practiced with on the book, the children looked very happy to have some context.
After snack time we went for a lovely walk to see the waterfall. We are so glad that the weather has cooled down so we can have a nice comfortable walk. We saw the waterfall and the children leaned against the wall nicely and smiled as they saw the splashing water and the leaves floating in the water. Before we knew it it was lunchtime, what a busy day.
Have a great evening everybody and we are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Love,
Buds
