Petals Mountain!

Thrilling Thursday! After we finished our Moose artwork, we used the wooden blocks to build two tall mountains. Our friends wanted to continue the activity from yesterday, so they asked for some marbles to roll down the slope! We kept the two mountains we made on the table for our circle time and packed everything else away. We held hands in a circle then did some fun movements before we sang our Good Morning song. Today, we had a new student teacher join us for two weeks! We introduced ourselves then sang the “Bear Went Over The Mountain” song.

We shifted our focus to the two wood block mountains we made in the morning. We covered one with green cloth and the other with gray cloth.

Y: Mountain!

D: We made it!

Nimo: Do you remember who lives on the mountain?

Y: Me!

M: Animals! Bear!

My: Rabbit

We added a blue ribbon for the river and some trees!

D: Blue! River! Fish!

Y: Tree!

D: Lots of trees on the mountain.

Next, we used red tape for the lava on our volcano.

M: Volcano, hot one!

D: Lava

Y: Red!

M: (The tape) it’s a little bit pink.

Y: Lava, so hot!

My: Don’t touch the lava.

Nimo placed a cup of baking soda on top of our volcano, then poured some vinegar into it.

D: Boom!

Y: (Vinegar) Sour!

Petals: Eruption!

We added a little bit of red food coloring in our baking soda so we had red lava flowing from our volcano! Very cool!

Our story today was, “If You Give A Moose A Muffin” by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond.

M: I’m not a moose.

Nimo: Do you like muffins?

D: I like donuts!

My: Me too!

Y: Me!

After our circle time, we enjoyed playing in the pool! When we got back to Petals Class, we finished up our mountain craft by tearing it into big chunks then sticking on our window!

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Stay cool and we will see you again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
