We started our morning with tons of fun activities! On one of our tables, we had old telephones to play with! We pretended to call our parents and friends!
D: Beep, beep, beep *pushing the buttons on the phone* Konichiwa mama, papa! Arigato, bye-bye, mama, papa!
W: That’s so funny!
S: Hello? Good-bye! *Pushes the red button* Fire! Fire!
At our Play Doh table our friends use the wooden people dolls!
J: I can make cheese!
M: This is Tangren. I only know in Chinese, I don’t know in English and Japanese.
M: I’m making sausage for the family.
I: Look! I made a pigeon!
We also had the stickle bricks to play with.
P: I made a truck! A little bit like a monster! So big!
M: Can I help you E?
R: I want to put this (piece) here, is that okay?
E: Yes! Good idea!
J: I’m making robot.
S *What are you making?* I don’t know, haha.
Y: Look! Ice cream!
We packed away our toys then practiced our songs for the performance. Before we went to the park we sat in a circle and talked a little more about our families. Our teachers made a family tree to help us understand how our family members were connected.
Nimo: What shapes do you see on this big paper?
M: Square!
Nimo: Who do you think goes in these squares?
D: Brother.
S: Grandma.
M: Mommy and daddy.
R: We doing families again?
Nimo: Where do you think grandma and grandpa goes?
J: There!
E: In the big one!
We used Nimo’s family as an example and saw how the family tree works.
D: I’m a brother!
I: My daddy’s name is L.
Nimo: What do we call the brothers of your mom or dad?
R: Uncles!
Nimo: And the sisters?
M: Teacher!
S: Aunts, here and here.
Nimo: And the the babies of your aunts and uncles are your…?
D: Cousins!
Nimo: Who do you think goes in this space?
R: Pets!
Today we took a look at M, S, and Y’s family. They each took their time and lined up the cards on the family tree.
M: I have two grandma, two grandpa, two uncles, and two cousins! Here is mommy, daddy, M, and Z!
S: I have two grandma and grandpa. My daddy have a brother and mommy have a sister. My uncle has one baby, my cousin. I don’t know name. I have one sister and a brother!
Y: *Pointed at grandma and grandpa, brother, and a cat*
After our circle time we got ready for the park and played at Iki Iki Plaza park! We had a great time making salad and playing tag!
Thank you all for another fabulous day! We hope you have a great evening and we will see you again tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
