Wednesday, 14th May: Pat a cake, pat a cake!
This morning our very own L was so excited to arrive and we all wished her a happy birthday on her actual date! Happy birthday from all your Ohana friends and family L!
At the front table today, we had threading puzzles out and ready to adorn with colorful yarn and string! E picked up the square shape and threaded three holes all by herself! K and S both collected blue and red strings to start a corner of the rectangle puzzle together. They love the colors red and blue!
Over at the back table, We added a theme of red paint to our amazing canvas! To complete the red color scheme today, we used special mop paint brushes that gave a very cool firework effect when tapping across the canvas! T was so excited to grab a brush and stamp to his heart’s content! He smiled as L came to join him. L and T both carefully stamped the outer edge of the canvas making sounds as they went along, “ba! Ba! Ba!” for each red firework!
Nearby, L baked a chicken in the oven for K and T to enjoy! She repeatedly paused to check and said “chik, chik!” and then cracked up with laughter right after. It was so much fun to laugh with her! After cleaning up the canvas, we picked the people connectors to play and build with! H gathered some red people and said “aka!”, “red!” with a smile. He snapped their hands together and made a small chain! L also helped by adding some blue and purple people to it. Nice teamwork!
Inside the sensory table, our amazingly cinnamon scented play doh was ready and waiting for us to create pancakes! K and L worked together to cut zig zag shapes and stamp bear faces! They were very sweet to share so nicely together! Thank you!
After clean up time, we greeted each other and Brandon invited us to come and search for our name cards! R jumped up and immediately located hers with such focus! I showed his kindness by handing H his name card. Thanks Ichiri! After we all finished, Brandon told us that we were all invited to help make delicious PANCAKES!
We started by adding ingredients to a big bowl. K was brave to stand up in front of class and pour a scoop of flour, followed by S, who added some sugar. They were both very careful and showed laser focus when finishing! T added some oat milk and N helped carefully pour it into the bowl. Nearby, H was watching so carefully as if he was taking notes. Once all the ingredients were in, S was invited up to help mix it with a whisk! Everyone did such a wonderful job and even got to sample the pancake once it was finished. Our favorite part seemed to be watching the air bubbles come up to the top as we cooked them, telling us it was time to flip and enjoy them! YUM!
Thank you so much for today Buds chefs! You all did such an amazing job!
Love, Buds
