A terrific Tuesday to everyone!
Our morning started with adding finishing touches to the flower bouquet we were going to give to the Grandmas and Grandpas at Arisu No Mori Nursing Home. While some friends added stickers to our props for our party, others played with play dough and paper puppets. We had a busy start, but we had a great time catching up with friends.
R: We’ll go to grandma and grandpa?
E: We’ll go to my grandma and grandpa?
M: My grandma and grandpa are in China.
W: Y? (asking where Y is)
J: I like owls! Evita, I have an owl at home.
M: Look, a princess! *Pointed at teacher puppet we made*
S: No, it’s not. That is a teacher
After cleaning, we gathered in a circle to discuss where we are going today. Evita revisited the rules and we practiced two songs for grandma and grandpa. Before heading to Arisa No Mori, we played an interesting game called, “Where is Mommy? Where is Daddy?” We were really good at listening to the animal voices and finding mommy and daddy. Can’t wait to play it with our moms and dads!
Evita: Where are we going?
M: Go to grandma and grandpa!
E: Listen. No running
M: I think we are going with Flowers Class. (We need to) hold hands
E: No shouting
M: No touching walls and dirt, because the hand is going to be dirty, not clean. Grandma and grandpa’s hand will be yucky too!
R: (They might get) Sick.
M: Grandma and grandpa will fall (if we don’t use gentle hands) Grandma, grandpa will have an ouchie
- Rock,Scissors,Paper Song
R: snail! (rock+scissors)
M/J: Anpanman! (rock+rock)
M: Anpanman has 1,2,3, this one (rock)!
P: Butterfly! (paper+paper)
M: Vieda! Not Evita? (asking who should she listen to)
Next, we excitedly got ready to go to Arisa No Mori. Everyone got paired with Flowers friends and left our park rope behind. Even if we were a little tired, we were so proud we got to walk a little faster with flowers. We sure are ready to go to Flowers Class next school year!
At Arisa No Mori, we were warmly greeted by everyone. We said hello and sang two songs for them. The “Oji-chan and Oba-chan” song and the “Rock, Scissors, Paper” song. They were eagerly listening when we were asked to share something about us. We learned that one grandma just turned 104 years old, what a huge number! We were all amazed and clapped for her.
Petals/Flowers: Ohayou Gozaimasu! Obaachan! Ojiichan!
Meimei: Anpanman (rock+rock)
P: Butterfly (paper+paper)
E: Snail (rock+scissors)
E/T: Wow! (after learning of a grandma’s age)
Lastly, we played a special game with them! It was a lot of fun guessing the food hidden under the sticky notes. Grandma and grandpa were really good at guessing.
E: Onigiri!
R: Dango!
E: I like curry rice, mmm!
We had so much fun and we can’t wait to go see grandma and grandpa again soon!
Love,
Petals
