Happy Tuesday! We were excited to hear more about polar bears. Our circle time discussion kicked off by looking closely at a polar bear picture. When asked what color the polar bear was, we replied:
K: Yellow!
L: Pink and yellow!
That’s right! Pictures of polar bears usually appear their fur as white or yellowish. Vieda showed us our polar bear craft and asked us what the color of the paper was. L answered, “Black!”. We were surprised to know that the polar bear’s skin is in fact BLACK! K and N checked their polar bears craft, too and said, “Black!”. How come we see their skin as white? Let’s find out tomorrow!
We talked about what polar bears eat, too. We lined up some toys on the floor and wondered whether polar bears would eat them. It was a fun and interesting interactive discussion!
Vieda: Do polar bears eat flies?
K: No!
Vieda: Do polar bears eat trees?
L and K: No!
Vieda: Do polar bears eat pig?
N: No!
V: Do polar bears eat snakes?
K, L, R: No!
Then we saw another picture of an animal that lives in the arctic. K said, “Seal!” and learned that this is what polar bears usually eat.
STORY TIME (Polar Bear’s Underwear by Tupera Tupera)
What a funny storybook we had today! After reading the first part of the story where it says polar bear lost his underwear, Buds friends held on to their trousers and said, “Mine!”. It was the cutest reaction ever! We had fun looking at the design of each pair of underwear that we saw in the book. R said, “Yum yum yum!” at the sight of Pig’s underwear. Who wouldn’t? Pig’s underwear has lots of delicious treats on them! L said, “Cheese!” as she pointed at the candy design. Then, came the smallest underwear. Whose could it be? K answered, “Flower…butterfly!”. At last, a pair of white underwear came. N said, “Polar bear! Bye-bye! What an interesting animal polar bear is!
MORNING ACTIVITIES
We wanted to make a background that would look like an arctic. So, what we did was to have a painting activity where we mixed shaving cream to our blue and white paint. We loved mixing the shaving cream and paint with our hands😊It was fluffy and very soft! Then, we used the mixture in painting on white construction paper. For us, it seemed magical as we saw the mixture spread out on the paper! We already love our arctic background😊
We found empty cardboard boxes and turned them into cars and trains. We had so much fun moving around the classroom as if we were in a real car! For table activity, we played with kinetic sand and had fun using shape cutters to create different shapes.
See you tomorrow!
Lots of love,
Buds XOXO
