Let’s Dance!

Today is a very special day, as we sang a very happy birthday song to our very own A! Today, they turned 2 years old! Congrats A!

Good afternoon Buds families! With all this rain we’ve had this week, we were wondering if we would see the sun again!

Thankfully, we did on Thursday with a wonderfully clear sky but a hot day it was!

This week, our little Buds have begun working on a halloween art collaboration! The theme of our giant art is a pumpkin, or better yet, a jack-o-lantern! Wooooo! SpOoKy! Our little adventurers have already spotted some pumpkins out in the wild!

Our theme of senses has continued and this week we observed the sense of “touch” of course. Our Buds have been practicing saying the words “soft, smooth, rough, velvety” and more! During our circle times, the class has explored mistery objects inside a box by using the fantastic touch of our hands and fingers to determine what was inside!

The rain has been a very dominant presence recently and the Buds have embraced it with open arms. We proudly wore our rain gear to go out and explore the wet world that we know, and see the many changes and puddles of water that appeared! We love to splash and especially splash with our friends. Water is so fantastic to us at this age because it literally transforms the world around us and provides us with interesting sensory experiences!

Our activities in the classroom have been focused to hands-on textile items and numerous ways to pick up, grasp, pour, gather and build while using those items. Discovering smooth and rough items in our class today has been a colorful experience as well, with pasta noodles to scoop and pour, rough and smooth rocks to touch, along with soft colorful flowers and feathers to gather with our buddies.

Our gym class this week challenged our gross motor ability by following our teacher Mirai Sensei along to search out pictures of animals and act out their signature animal movements! We thumped our chests like gorillas, hopped around the room with Mirai like rabbits and more!

Dance class also got our bodies moving with teacher Annie as we all sat like butterflies and called out some of our favorite color of butterlies we like! We also stretched and made a pretend pizza in the floor by opening our legs and stretching our arms out front to knead the pizza dough, add the toppings and pop it in the oven! Yay! We love pizza!
