Is Plastic Yummy?

We started our morning playing with Lego and designing goggles out of plastic muffin containers. We read, “Somebody Swallowed Stanley” for story time.

Story time

M: I know Stanley Jellyfish has lots of legs.

K : And there’s poison inside.

E : If you touch the body, you’ll be electric.

D : They don’t have legs, they cannot walk.

E: The things they use to swim with look like noodles.

T: How can they see?

Story time activity : How does it feel when someone walks past you when you close your eyes?

E : I felt the ground was a bit shaky.

T : It kinda feels like somebody went past me.

M : Dylan and Tingting it was slow.

S : Soft sound.

K : It feels like an earthquake.

E : One time I see a whale blow it out.

M : A parrot.

T : Maybe a pigeon.

E : A sea eagle, a shark eat it.

K : He will swim again.

M : The shark will eat him.

How can we help the turtle?

E : Hit his back.

M : Take out the plastic.

T : recycle.

Question of the Day

Is plastic yummy?

T: Because plastic is too hard and we can choke.

M : Because we will choke.

S : No.

D : You cannot eat it. You won’t have anymore.

E : You will kind of die because you cannot breathe.

K : I don’t know. The plastic is not food.

T : Sometimes they wrap plastic around the sides of cake.

For our activity, we looked around the room and counted or drew all the plastic items we can find around the classroom. Then we discussed as a class what we found and how many there were of each item.

E : 2,100 and a duck. The most plastic was 124, all the markers.

S : Pen, 5.

K : I will write it down. 9,111.

D : 102, I only write it down.

T : The goggles and plastic bottles, this sign, the people’s body on the wall.

M : 29 things.

Thank you all for another wonderful week, see you next time.

Love,

Petals
