Welcome to the Jungle! We played a fun Monkey Game with our friends and teachers in the morning! Inside of a big palm tree was a bunch of sticks and monkeys hanging on them. We rolled the dice which showed us green, blue, or red. The color that popped up on the dice was the color stick we pulled out of the palm tree and if the monkeys fell down, those would be our points! While our friends were playing the game, one of us would stop by the art table to start our Jungle Bird craft. The first step to this craft was to get our foot prints! We chose the colors of paint we wanted to use and tried painting our own foot to make colorful designs! We stepped on the white paper and left a beautiful footprint!
We packed away our toys then had D read us a story, “Here We Are” by Oliver Jeffers. After the story, we revisited some of the pictures in the book with Nimo.
Nimo: What is this planet called?
Ma: Earth!
Nimo: Can you point to any of the places you learned about?
Ma: Mountains!
M: Desert, cactus!
D: River!
M: Look, a volcano.
Nimo: What about animals? Do you know any in this picture?
Ma: Elephant
M: Tiger
D: Monkey!
H: Panda.
Nimo: Which habitat are we learning about this week?
Ma: Jungle!
Nimo: Jungle and rainforests. Can you say rainforest?
Petals: Rainforest!
Nimo: What animals do you remember seeing in our book from yesterday?
D: Elephant
M: Crocodile.
Ma: Hm… Tiger!
H: Gorilla! *Thumps his chest*
For one of our activities today, we pretended to be monkeys! Nimo brought the monkey bar and we tried hanging on them in many different ways!
When we got back to class we did a fun activity with colors! We reviewed the names of the colors:
H: Yellow!
M: Red
D: Blue.
Ma: Purple!
H: Green
M: Orange.
We sang a that named a color and we searched the classroom for it. We wrapped up our circle time by talking about our artist of the week, John Dyer. He painted colorful pictures of the jungle which we will try this week! Stay tuned to see how that goes!
