Petals went camping by the river today! When we arrived at school we noticed the lights were turned off. The tent we have in the library turned into a small campsite! Our teachers made a pile of sticks and put fire-colored cellophane and tealights in it to make it look more like a campfire! We had food toys set up for campfire cooking and the blue tactile path was the river. Next to the river we had our frog and bug scooping activity! We enjoyed singing the, “Five Green Speckled Frogs” song with the guitar! Nimo made a special version of the song with our names in it! He would ask us what our favorite food was and added it into the song!
M: I like vegetables.
M: Vegetables.
I: Apples!
S: Apples.
After we packed away the toys, we went to the park while it was still cloudy! We came back to school and played a memory game with Liezel and G. Our teachers made patterns with the colors and asked us what color we thought came next.
We huddled inside the tent and read a story with Liezel and G. G started with the book, “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury.
G: Are you scared?
I: No!
M: I can see the storm *pointing at the book*
M: It’s not scary.
M: Oh no! A cave!
G: Are you scared?
S: *Shakes his head*
I: A bear!
While our friends were getting ready for water play downstairs in Buds, Liezel read us one more book, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” by Bill Martin Jr.
We had a great time having water play with our Flowers friends and when we got back to school we changed out of our swimwear and got ready for lunch!
