Getting ready for Sports Day

Our morning started with some watercoloring! Our teachers prepared some brown paper and let us free paint. We had a great time exploring watercolor paint and mixing colors! After our morning free play time, we went to Step Park together with Flowers Class. We had a great time playing on the slide and chasing our friends. When we got back to school, we practiced our Sports Day chant and sang a new version of our good morning song. Now that we all knew each other’s names, we sang, “How Are You”. We did a quick review on some feelings we could have, then sang the song!
M: I’m happy.
A: Happy
H: Happy!
L: Hmm… Happy.
E: Funny!
Y: Happy.
S: Happy
L: Angry! Grr!

We had a quick chat about yesterday, Keirou no Hi.
Nimo: Did you show your grandma and grandpa the picture of your card?
L: No.
M: Yes! They said, “Daisuki”
L: I showed. Tita said Japanese.
S: Tita didn’t say.
Nimo: Did anyone play with their grandparents?
H: Asonda. I play. Grandma.
Y: I do waterplay.
Nimo: Did anyone give their grandparents a phone call?
A: No.
E: *Nods*

Our story today was called, “It’s My Turn” by David Bedford and Elaine Field. It was a cute book about a cat and a dog playing at the park. The two were learning how to share and take turns.

H: Meow meow, cat!
M: Dog! Woof woof!
L: (Where are they playing?) The park.
Nimo: They are saying, “It’s still my turn” and not sharing. Is that okay?
L: No! Not okay.
S: Two friends.
H: No share?! No
Nimo: Now they are playing together and having lots of fun!
M: They’re sharing!

We briefly talked about our Sports Day coming up next week and that we too will be taking turns with our Flowers and Buds friends.
Before lunch time we tried practicing one of the games for Sports Day, Tamaire! We got a box full of balls and we moved as quickly as we could to put them into the basket in the middle! While we were playing the game, Esmi took pictures of us doing all kinds of sporty poses for our Sports Day Banner.

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a wonderful evening and we will see you again tomorrow!

Love,
Petals
