Happy Thursday! Flowers class had a very busy, but fun and exciting day. We have 7 more days until graduation so today we rehearsed our graduation show in front of Buds and Petals class. We hope they liked it! Flowers class also earned an ice cream party for selling the most raffle tickets. Thank you to all the families.
CIRCLE TIME
We noticed there was a big triangle with 6 different sections on the white board. What did it mean. We took a few guesses.
Y: Pyramid?
O: Triangle box?
M: Pyramid?
Hmm… we are not sure what it is. Let’s explore.
Yesterday we learned a new word: Dairy. What is dairy?
M: Milk
S: Yogurt
M: Cheese
T: Ice cream
O: Red cheese
A: Milkshake
T: Butter
Yes! Our teacher was so surprised we remembered all the different types of dairy products. All the different dairy foods filled up one section of the triangle.
What about the other 5 sections?
QUESTION OF THE DAY
K: “Do you like bread?”
S: Yes. I like peanut butter.
O: No, because it has kosher inside the bread. I like vegetable bread.
M: I don’t like bread. I made peanut butter and jelly bread before, but it’s hard to chew so I don’t like it.
T: No because some of the breads are sweet and some are not. I like it so-so.
Then the teacher wrote the word: G-R-A-I-N.
Y: Grill?
O: Grain!
Yes, it said grain, but what are those?
O: Grain is something like, I forgot it.
Y: Different shapes and colors and they come from plants.
S: Flour to make a dough. They come from seeds.
Yes, today we learned that grains are seeds that grow on some plants. They then are harvested and turned into foods that we can eat like bread and rice.
What are some other foods that are in the grain family?
K: Popcorn
Y: Pancakes
A: Pretzels
T: Cereal
Z: Cupcake
S: Bread
So many foods that come from grains. These foods filled in the next section of the triangle, but there are still 4 empty sections.
HOMEWORK
We took a guess of what the other sections might be.
M: Vitamins, Meat
K: Eggs
Y: Vitamins
We are still not sure so can we go home and see what the other 4 sections are and let’s share tomorrow.
