Fabulous Fabric Fun!

Summer School Week Four is Fabulous Fabric Fun! In the morning we did a fun little craft with the first letter of our name and little pieces of cloth. We first found our letter then used the glue to stick pieces of fabric on it! On the small table, our teachers put out all kinds of fabric for us to explore. We played with the toy cars then helped our teachers make a new batch of play dough!

After free play time, we sang our good morning song and introduced ourselves to our Petals and Buds friends! We also sang, “If You’re Happy And You Know It”, “BINGO”, and “ABC”!

M: Bye bye fish, mwah!

S: *Music Assistant* I want Ukulele.

M: Guitar!

K: Xylophone please!

While Buds had snack time, Petals friends sat down together with Nimo and tried making shapes with the brand new play dough! Our friends did a wonderful job finding creative ways to make the shapes!

T: *Rolled the play dough into a ball* How about this circle?

S: *Flattened a ball to make a circle* This one!

K: I can make a heart!

Nimo: How can we make a heart?

T: I know!

K: Can Kaito try too?

T: Yeah!

K: I make pizza!

Nimo: Can I give you small heart-shaped pepperonis?

K: Yes please!

R: How can I fold the play dough in half?

K: Look Lucy, it’s Green Man from Toy Story.

R: I made a big triangle.

T: I make onigiri.

K: This, dango!

When we got back together we started our circle time. For the first part, we passed around some cloth and used our five senses to explore it! We are excited to make our tie dye shirts later this week!

We looked at the calendar and crossed off the days that were finished. July 4th was on Saturday and some of our friends shared what they did.

T: I do party.

T: T do fireworks at home.

K: I did fireworks in my bathroom.

Nimo: Today is?

T: Wednesday?

T: Six

T: It’s sunny.

M: Sunny!

Tomorrow is July 7th which is a special day in Japan called Tanabata. To prepare for tomorrow, our teachers read us a story about Tanabata.

Nimo: What do you see on the cover page?

T: Space.

K: Japan.

K: Sleigh.

T: Star!

Nimo: This is Orihime and Hikoboshi.

M: Orihime.

Nimo: Who is a boy like Hikoboshi?

K: K is a boy!

R: I’m a boy and my brother is a boy.

K: K!

T: Me! I’m a boy!

S: *Nods*

Nimo: Who’s a girl?

M: M!

K: And C, and E.

In the story Hikoboshi and Orihime were very good friends and they played everyday together, but they played too much and they forgot to do their jobs. Orihime’s daddy got upset and decided the two needed to be separated and they can see each other once a year. On July 7th Magpie birds will come to make a bridge over the Milky Way so they two can meet.

After our story, we played hopscotch. When we got to the other side, we looked for the first letter of our name! We finished up our day playing at Step Park! Thank you for another fabulous day! Have a great evening and see you all again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
