Fabric Tent Building and Dolll making!

Today the Petals and Buds Classes teamed up, once again for some more fun with fabric!

On the front table, there was a doll making exercise using popsicle sticks, fabrics and googly eyes and there was a large panel of cardboard set out and many scraps of different colored fabrics for us to glue down against it by using paint brushes to apply glue. At the back table, we enjoyed the lock and latch puzzle and the picture peg puzzles! Lots of activities to keep our fingers, hands and minds busy with creativity and critical thinking!

Today for circle time, we sang our hello song while saying our names out loud. After we introduced ourselves, we reviewed why fabrics are an important part of our lives in the form of the clothes we wear.

Some of our circle time discussion was also about how we coul dbuild a tent using fabric.

Brandon-Fabric is very important to our lives.

K- Why?

Brandon- We wear fabric to protect our body and dress ourselves in the colors and clothes we like.

Everyone-Fabric!

Afterwards, Brandon waived a HUGE fabric sheet and we laughed because he brushed it over all of our heads! We even pretended to be ghosts! BOO!

When he showed us the big fabric sheet, he asked us how we could use it to build a tent:

L-Hello!

Brandon-Have you been camping before?

T-In a car with daddy

R-A long time ago

T-I went!

Once we put up the white fabric, Lucy brought in an even larger fabric parachute to cover our tent! It was so big!

The tents were so much fun! Soon we were a little tired and sat down for a cool video of how some fabrics are made.

We learned that some fabrics like “cotton” is grown and then cleaned before spun into string! Wow! Others actually come from animals like sheep and we call that fabric “wool”. It was very fascinating to see the farmers sheer the fleece from the sheep and then get it ready to use for making sweaters, caps and more! Fabrics are amazing!

The Petals sat with Lucy and read a story “If You Go Walking In Tiger Wood”:

Lucy-What animal?

T-Tiger

T-Cheetah

L-What color?

K-Yellow

T-Black

T-I like tiger

R-A lot of trees there

Lucy-What’s in the hole?

R-Mouse live sin the hole!

K-Monkey

K-Frog!

T-Snake

K-Monkey

T-Not scary

Thanks again for a wonderful day and stay cool!

Love,

Buds
