Happy Monday! It’s another start of the week with not many friends! We only have 9 friends in Flowers class today! It feels a bit strange, and we miss many of our other friends, but it’s been a great day!
CIRCLE TIME
We began our circle with a story! Since many of us often say that we are hungry during circle time, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle! We were so surprised at how hungry the little caterpillar was! It was good for us to practice the order of the days of the week too! Once the caterpillar got to Saturday, he ate a lot because he was so hungry!
O: He eat is everything and tummy ouchy! He eat leaf and genki ni natta!
M: He got happy!
C: No more stomachache!
R: He is getting big!
After eating, the caterpillar built something called a cocoon! What is a cocoon?
O: Cocoon is egg.
C: Cocoon is like an egg but not an egg.
The cocoon is like a home that the caterpillar will stay in for 2 weeks! How long is 2 weeks?
R: 14 days!
After 2 weeks, the caterpillar nibbled a hole in the cocoon. What does nibble mean?
S: They’re making holes with their mouth.
The caterpillar turned into a beautiful butterfly!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
R: Do you have a life book?
We thought that the very hungry caterpillar book was like a life book. We watched them go from an egg to a butterfly! Let’s compare with one of our life books!
R showed us her life book!
S: You were so small!
R: I am like the hungry caterpillar!
C: When she was born, she can just drink milk. But now she can do 1000 things!
We came across a picture of R in Hawaii swimming in the ocean! We thought it looked like a lot of fun!
R: Actually, I was thinking about, “what if there’s a shark!?” I was scared and holding onto daddy! I think mommy just said, “Smile! It’s for your life book!” and I smiled!
Even though R was smiling in the picture, her feeling inside was scared.
We can learn a lot about someone from looking at pictures of their life, but we can’t know their true feelings without asking them!
S: Only you can know!
We also looked at C’s life book! There were some similarities between hers and R’s. Like both getting bigger, learning to crawl, walk, and eventually run. They’ve both been to America too, but their lives have been different. Even the things that are the same have unique differences for each of them.
Each person has their own story! Let’s keep exploring what that means!
See you tomorrow! Have a lovely evening!
Love,
Flowers XOXO
