Do Polar bears live in the jungle?

Thursday 13th November

Hello everyone,

Today we looked at the different habitat and eco systems that animals come from. We focused on the ocean, the jungle, the arctic and the desert.

As part of our ongoing work on using gentle hands and indoor voices today we used a quiet voice to play a game of telephone. The teacher whispered the word “Polar bear” and then when R, who was the last in the circle repeated the word he said “princess”… does polar bear sound like princess? Next time let’s try our best to listen carefully.

K: I said polar bear and Isa said princess.. They are both P words.

Review

J: Yesterday we did water.. What is it? The mouth eating.

Story: the little polar bear.

I: polar bear

P: ice

Where do polar bears live?

K: America

Ka: Japan

P: in ice!

M: arctic

Why are polar bears white?

P: because snow is the same color

J: my shoe is white and polar bear is white

E: It’s because their body is full of snow!

Why do polar bears not live in the jungle?

E: Sometimes it gets too cold and if a polar bear gets too cold he will die. This book is scary.

The polar bear in the story said he was homesick or the Arctic. What does home sick mean?

E: sick on the beach

M: It means the polar bear wants to go home.

We asked some of our friends if they get homesick for their countries they come from or for their mommies and daddies when they are at school. Everyone said NO.

Question of the day

M: Do polar bears live in the jungle?

I: no because they are homesick

J: because they live in the Arctic.

Next we played a game to put the toy animals on top of the picture of the ecosystem that they live in. Everyone did a great job even when there were some tricky ones like snakes who live in jungles and in deserts.

Lastly we had a quiz. It was a guess what animal quiz.

Teacher: I live in the jungle, i am brown i climb trees

P: Monkey!

Teacher: i live in the ocean, i am scary, i have a sharp fin on my back

I: shark!

Teacher: I live in the desert and the jungle, i am long and my starting letter is an sss

K: snake!

We had such a fun day today learning about the different ecosystems! Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!
