Good afternoon everyone,
We continued our theme of the rainforests today by studying about animals that live in the rainfoirest which is about twenty percent of all species.. wow~! The Flowers class today explored how an animals color can help it camouflage itself in the jungle and then we explored where we could hide ourselves in the classroom.
On the tables today we had a rainforest sensory table with lots of leaves. We had a jungle puzzle, green playdough with letters and an art table where we worked on making sloths for our diorama out of cardboard. We then cooled off with some waterplay where the Flowers friends have been very excited to help water the school plants, they love filling up buckets and giving the flowers upstairs some love.

Question of the day: Can animals disappear?
M: some animals are fast and cannot disappear, but we can see them from very far away. They look like they are going slow, but they are going fast. A horse is fast but not that fast.
J: because scorpion is very fast.
M: when they’re fast just like a bicycle they can disappear
D: when cheetahs run away, they disappear.
N: early people were animals and they were so good at hiding and they can disappear.
CAMOUFLAGUE
N: camouflage means when you are the same color as something so you can blend in.
Today we looked at some animals who are very good at hiding in the jungle. Then we looked to see if we could find the camouflaged animal in a picture.
1. Green tree snake
We learned that animals cant see as well as humans so we tried squinting ans saw that we couldn’t see the snake well.
2. Orangutan
D: It’s a gorilla
M: it’s a chimpanzee
S: it’s a monkey
N: monkeys used to be people
M: monkeys turned into people. I saw it on YouTube 100 million years ago Monkeys turned into people/
We learned that orangutans arms are longer than their bodies which makes it easier to climb trees but hard to walk, we practiced walking like an orangutan.
3. Jaguar
D: it’s a cheetah!
M: no its like a cheetah but it can climb trees.
4: sloth
Y: I saw a sloth in the zoo!
We learned that sloths are 3X stronger than humans which made everyone very excited to see who would win in a fight between sloths/ humans.
After searching for some animals, we tried hiding in the classroom for the best place to camouflage ourselves. It was super fun!
We hope you have a great evening and are looking forward to tomorrow for another day in the rainforest!
