Good afternoon Buds families!
Today was another scorching day but we stayed cool with loads of splashes, sprays and tidal waves of fun!
TABLE ACTIVITIES
We exercised our fingers and hands by making delicious pretend cookies on the back table for a summer time treat! There were many different shapes available and had loads of fun rolling little balls, flattening out pancakes and rolling little sausages with our hands. We love to mold and create with our hands and they are the perfect tools for learning and discovering our world around us!
CIRCLE TIME
We gathered and sat down on our very own circle time squares that we got to pick out! They are special foam seats that are comfortable to sit on and give us a point of reference when it’s time to sit, look and listen! We sang our hello song and then searched for our names before discovering and learning about our favorite new animal, the turtle! We observed a baby turtle by first saying hello. L said with a big voice “HELLO BABY!”, while T waved with a bright beautiful smile. We practiced saying the name “turtle” together and the teachers heard T clearly say “TURTLE!”. E then pointed and said “BABY!” Brandon invited us to count the legs of the baby turtle by softly touching them. N came up and touched each of them as we all counted together, ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR! The Buds friends learned that the turtle is so special because it can carry its own house that keeps him safe! We learned that it’s called a “SHELL” and it keeps turtles safe and protected because they can pop themselves inside! Wow! We looked at the color of the baby turtle’s shell and were asked by the teachers, “what color is the baby turtle’s shell?”. Brandon asked if it looked brown and L replied “YEAH!”.
To celebrate learning about turtles, we jumped up and sang our new favorite song “I Had a Tiny Turtle” together and Brandon blew some bubbles for us all to chase! We happily popped them together and noticed that they stuck to our hands, fingers and even our hair! It was so much fun to pop them together! All that exciting movement and chasing made us hungry for snack time!
STORY TIME
Today Lily picked the story time story “Spot’s Birthday”! We took turns flipping the flaps to help spot find all his friends and celebrate his happy birthday! We love animals so much and it was a blast to discover Spot was friends with so many different animals!
WATER PLAY
Nozomi and Brandon invited us out once more to cool off with some water play! This time, a few of our friends from Petals class came down to join us! We used pots and pans to pour water but mostly focused on learning how to suck up water with the large droppers. We practiced squeezing them when they were under the water so that they could fill up. T and N were very good at spraying the teachers and their friends with great accuracy! T made sure everyone was cool by splashing up a great big tidal wave! SPLASH!!
Thank you so much for another awesome day!
Lots of love,
Buds XOXO
