Circles, circles and circles and a fun gym class
29 September – Daily Journal
It was a great start to the week with a busy morning including our gym class with Tanaka sensei. We had some chefs in the kitchen, artists drawing at the table, architects constructing block towers and houses
and some down time in the library corner.
There was a big green circle on the art table today. We asked what shape it was and some Buds said “Green”. Yes, it’s green but what shape is it? A couple of Buds said circle but as expected most Buds needed the teachers to tell them. We then continued to put lots and lots of circle stickers on it. This was a good challenge because the stickers were quite small circles and it was a good activity for our fine motor skills.
In circle time this morning we found some more faces on the blocks. Lanah was very excited to see her two brothers and her mummy and daddy on the blocks and told everyone who they are.
Yay, we had another fun gym class and we can see Buds skills improving as they listen and follow what Tanaka sensei is doing. A new activity we did today was to line up all the cushions and after jumping along the mats Buds had to jump like frogs along the mats. This was quite tricky for Buds. Usually we jump like frogs on the floor and it doesn’t matter so much where we land but when we are jumping along the mats we have to watch more carefully what we are doing.
We were the first class at the park today and as we didn’t take any sand toys, we had the freedom to move around using the swings, slides and chasing butterflies.
Before lunch Buds chose some songs from our song box and it seemed that ‘Three Little Monkeys Swinging From a tree’ was the favorite today. We usually sing some songs or read some books while taking turns to wash hands. Then when everyone is done we all go together and get our drink bottles and lunch and find our placemats. Some Buds recognize their placemats. This can be because they remember the art they made or because they recognize their name. “Hands up” say they teachers and we
sing our lunch time song. You may hear it at home sometimes. “Lunch time, goes down down down, and around around around, in my tummy tummy tummy, makes my mind, say yum yum yum, thank you for lunch time, itadakimasu!
Thank you
