We made beautiful circle art and had a great gym class

There were some long snakes on the play dough table along with knives and rollers this morning so Buds spent time cutting them up, making mountains and more snakes. Drawing on the whiteboard easel is also popular. At first some Buds want the whole easel to themselves but with some help they realize it is fun to draw with their friends and Buds work well together to create their pictures.

Circle painting was so much fun this morning. We used toilet roll cylinders and lids to stamp lots of circles on the paper and they turned out beautifully. Some Buds know the shape ‘circle’ and others are learning so this was a good way to repeat lots and lots of circles.

We often hold hands making a circle so that when we sit down we are evenly spread out in a circle (not including a few wiggles!) Sometimes we do ‘Ring Around the Roses’ before we sit down too. At the moment we are seeing if some Buds can recognize their names so everyone took turns to find their name and put it on the board. (Some children need more help than others). After all the names were on the board, Sharee drew a shape around them and asked what shape it was. “Circle” was shouted out by Lanah and Hana and Karl shouted out “Oval” which was in fact true as the circle was a little long in the body. So we tried again and drew a circle. When we first used to dance to ‘Freeze’ not many Buds stopped when the music froze but now most Buds stop when the music does. We are so happy to see Buds progressing in all areas.

We had a fantastic gym class today. Buds are really getting into it, listening and following Tanaka sensei as they are laughing and having fun. It seems they are already better at doing the animal poses; walking like a bear, jumping like a frog and hopping like a bunny.

We took chalk to the park today but Buds only wanted to draw a few lines and zig zags before they ran away to play on the slide, make dinner with the rocks, dirt and grass and climb on the climbing equipment. Petals ended up drawing some lovely pictures so we admired them on the way out and since we could see some sun drawings we sang ‘Mr Sun, Mr Golden Sun’ on the way back from the park.
