A fabulous day with a picnic at the park and water play
5 September – Daily Journal
It’s been another great day to the end of a great week!
This morning stacking the circles and then throwing the rings onto the stack of circles was fun for everyone.
Yurika and Kaia made their faces today. They are still getting used to using their finger/s as a tool to spread the glue onto the paper so today they used small spatulas to put the glue on their faces. They also tried to dip the noses, mouths and eyes into the glue and stick on the faces and they
turned out beautifully.
In circle time today after we sang ‘I Wonder What Your Name is?’ we played a game where we had to listen and put a sticker on different parts of our body. Tummy/stomach, cheek, nose, arm, toes and elbow were a few we did. Buds liked putting the stickers on their noses the most.
As it might be a rainy weekend we decided to have a picnic at the park for snack. It was fun to all sit together on the mat and eat our snacks. Hana and Lanah put a lot of stones on a wooden bench and pretended it was Hana’s birthday. But they both wanted to blow the candles out!
On the way back from the park we looked for yellow items as we were walking. It was surprising how many yellow things we could see; yellow nets for rubbish, a yellow children crossing sign, yellow circles on the road, yellow cones, yellow stripes on the policeman’s vest and more.
Because we went to the park a little early to eat snack, we had time to go upstairs to Flower Class and have some water play time. Buds enjoyed pouring water, squeezing it from the bottles into the big ice cube trays and using spoons too. Buds especially liked the bottle with 3 holes in it. As there are only a couple of containers, squeezy bottles etc of each type, Buds had to use their words to share the water toys. “My turn please”. “I’m still using it”. “Can I use it?” are some of the sentences we model for Buds. At one stage Kaia was singing quite sweetly too and I’m sure people walking along the street smiled when they heard the singing and laughing from Buds
class.
Have a great weekend
