We had fun making yellow collages and planting flowers at the park
3 September – Daily Journal
The hot weather didn’t stop Buds from having lots of fun today!
Hello, moshi moshi, Kaia was busy on the phone this morning! Riku really enjoys blocks and today put together a great piece of work. The pegs were popular on the manipulative table today too. They are great for building strength in little fingers.
Yellow, yellow, yellow! There were a lot of yellow materials on the art table this morning so
Buds started to make their collages for our colors books. Each month we will do a different color artwork from the color of the month. Hana and Lanah stuck a lot of materials on
theirs. They probably would have used everything but were happy to leave some for others to share. They were so proud of their art that they took them around the room to show everyone.
We received some new instruments today so after choosing which ones we wanted, Buds had fun dancing to ‘Freeze’. Buds are getting the hang of ‘freezing’ and staying still when the music stops.
Buds wondered what was in the basket that Sharee put in our circle. We could see several colored items but we only wanted yellow items in the basket so we took out the blue, green and red items but then we only had two yellow items in the basket. Oh no, we needed more. We took turns finding yellow items around the room (some of which the teachers had strategically put). Buds thought some of the items were quite funny; a flower lei, a fireman helmet and a handbag. We lined them up and counted 11. We look forward to when more Buds can count with us.
We are very lucky to work with Minato ward and maintain a flower garden in the park. Buds were happily surprised to see so many flowers lined up today. After we talked about all the different colored flowers, Buds all chose one and helped to plant it. Darren from Flowers Class was a big help with steadying Buds as they placed their plant into the soil. (And finishing off the pressing down of the soil etc). Most Buds actually weren’t sure of the dirt on their hands but the tap was close by so it was no problem.
Riku had fun running back and forward at the top of the big slide today and Yurika again went up the steps and down the slide a lot of times with the Sharee and Sayaka.
We read ‘Clap Your Hands’ which had a lot of actions for the children to follow; stomp your feet, rub your tummy, find something yellow etc.
Thank you
Sharee, Sayaka and Goh
