The feet of a pink princess

We loved the warm day playing outside in the park, enjoying having the entire park just for us since some schools have been closed this week, for Golden Week. We went with short sleeves revealing our beautiful soft skins after hiding in warm jumpers and long sleeves through the winter.

Downstairs, we spent the early part of the morning doing activities at the tables. We played with play dough and flubber which still feels intersting to touch. The flubber has become a little more rubbery and we have to use a lot more strength ??????????????????????to break pieces off it. We enjoyed using the rollers, knives for cutting and a variety of shape moulds. We pulled the flubber into small pieces and we helped pack away just before snack time. Hisami sat with us and completed the task of seeing how many piece puzzles we can do ???????????????????????????????etc.

Just before snack time, we sat together on the carpet and we did some preparation for our end of year party which will focus on one of our favourite stories. We will give our parents some tips as the weeks go along but will try to keep it a secret for as long as possible. We will dramatise the story and in between, we will sing some songs that are related to the story. The songs that we sang today were “Mr. Sun”; “There are seven days”; “Butterfly” and we linked our thumbs together to make our hands look like a butterfly.

??????????????????????At one of the activity tables, we had a puppet theatre and finger puppets. Some of the children wanted Shelley to tell us stories which she did. Then Tomas wanted to use the frog and giraffe puppets but when he sat behind the screen, he couldn’t see himself, so he came to the front and told Shelley to tell him a story about a frog and a giraffe. Lanah had a fabulous time with Mickey and Minnie Mouse and then she took a dragon and a frog prince. She became the puppeteer. After snack time, we went downstairs for our KIDFIT class which once again is ??????????????????????focusing on the brain.

Upstairs we saw three long pieces of paper on one of the activity tables. Together with the paper, there were coloured pastels and the cardboard that we had cut out yesterday, in the shape of the scales of a fish. We placed the cardboard that was in the shape of fish scales under the paper and rubbed until the scale pattern showed. We moved the card along and used different colours until the entire paper was covered in shapes that look like fish scales. Clodia, Allie, Ava, Ethan and Ryan then used Posca markers to add big eyes on the DSCF6237koi and stripes along the tail. One the second table, Clodia and Tokutaro started playing a game of Chess with the pawns and rooks/castles. They both claimed to be the winners!

On the way to the park, we practiced singing some of our songs that we usually sing in class. We sang “1, 2 Buckle my shoe”; “Old Macdonald had some vowels”; “You are my sunshine” and “Haru ga kita”. During library time, we read “Dinosaurs and all that rubbish” which is about a man who owns many factories and want to go and visit a star. He builds a rocket, however there is one problem. In the process of building the rocket, they create a lot of rubbish and pollution. The man reaches the star and discovers that there is nothing there; no plants, no nature, no trees, nothing! DSCF6220    While he is away on the star, the dinosaurs wake up, since they were extinct, and they create a paradise for themselves. When the man returns from the star, he cannot believe that it is the same earth that he left behind. The message from this story is that the Earth belongs to everyone. We can all create what we want to for ourselves; as long as it does not harm the earth.

In circle time we sorted dinosaur toys into same colours, shapes and sizes. We then got to DSCF6241choose a dinosaur and place it on paper with differnt pictures/icons viz. those with two feet that live on the land; those with two feet that can fly; those with four feet that live on the land. Beckett said that we can also sort the dinosaurs according to the food that they eat and the kind of teeth that they have. Have a great Golden Week holiday everyone!

Love always Shelley, Darren, Christine, Maryna, Goh, Nanako, Sharee, Liezel,

Ayaka and Hisami
