Big or small

Good day, Buds! It’s rainy today and it seemed that the weather was going to be like this for the rest of the day. Early in the morning, our teachers told us that we’re not going to use the pool. It was a bit sad because some of our friends were very excited to splash about. However, we can still play longer inside the classroom and we could put out more toys to play with. On our activity tables, we had some painting and peapod making tasks. Liezel and John were trying to guide through the whole process especially when we put all the pompoms together for our peapod art. On the other table, we had our hand stamp leaves art. We had the basic nature colors like orange, green and yellow. We just loved making patterns on our paper and we were so proud when we finally finished doing all of these projects today.DSCN2179            In our play area, our teachers were there to play with us too. She put out some soft toys like Mickey Mouse, teddy bear and many more. It was amazing how we were able to throw and catch some pastic balls as well. We picked some connecting blocks and manipulate them according to the shapes that we wanted to use. The kitchen play area was also very busy. We took out some plastic and soft toys and we pretended that we’re cooking for our friends and teachers. We offered some sushi, fruits and vegetables to everyone.

We also had the apron theater about Jack and the beanstalk. We listened attentively and interacted with the characters as well. It was really fun to hear this story and we’re quite happy to see the wonderful visuals from this special theater. Then, John put out various leaves and we talked about sizes. We learned more about the difference between big and small. First, we counted the leaves and learned that they were six. Our teachers asked us which one is big and which one is small. We all put them in big and small trays.  We also had some other toys like the big and small buses, Lego blocks and many more. We also sang our body movement songs so that we can expend that energy more. It was a great learning experience again for everyone (children and teachers). The head dress toys were quite popular too. We loved to put them on and showed it proudly to our teachers. We sometimes even posed for the camera.

We would also like to remind you that there will be school on Monday (July 18) but we don’t have our school lunch on that day. May we request everyone to please bring their own school lunch. Thank you so much, Ohana for a great day. See you all again on Monday! Have a great weekend!

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds class (Summer School 2016)
