Graduation Performance animals

Dear Flower Class parents, We hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was nice to see all the children’s smiling faces this morning coming into the classroom. We noticed after doing our morning jobs that there were very few toys or activities set out on the carpet today. Those of us who arrived first to flowers class came upstairs with Darren to the 3rd floor to do some activities there. When we got to the outside space we saw the small flowers which have not bloomed yet from our classroom balcony. We then helped repot the flowers into the small pots to decorate the outdoor space. Once we had done this we were free to play with the giant outdoor Lego blocks and the sand-box with shells and stones. Under the cover to the water table we saw 6 new tray activities to play with including a ball run, a maze, magnifying glasses and plastic bugs, a mirror and a tray of natural pinecones, driftwood etc. Meanwhile in the classroom several of us worked on our drawings that we started last week of us in the future in our dream jobs. We started by gluing our photo faces onto the paper and then adding more details with a sharp pencil. We have not put on any color yet though. On the second table we saw some board games with dice to play along with some bug design dominoes.

In gym class with Miyashita Sensei we warmed up by stretching and bending our bodies and then came to the mat to practice our reverse roll and double feet jumping over a cushion. It was slots of fun and we had a great time with this. At the end of the gym class we enjoyed playing a ‘Ninja’ game which involves lots of jumping and listening too. First we needed to pose with our fingers together while Miyashita Sensei pretended to throw stars at our legs or feet. We had a great time watching, jumping and laughing. It got faster and faster and we all got hot and sweaty. We also played a ‘Crow noise and lightning’ game in which Miyashita Sensei moved around making sounds and then when he said ‘Lightning’ we needed to move away. We then tried the same game but when we heard ‘Lightning’ we needed to find a partner and put our backs together. In circle time we talked about our end of year performance for the graduation party ceremony. We can’t say much about the performance or songs but we know you are going to enjoy it. Today we decided roles and said some of our lines for the story. There are many animals in our story so decided these today.

Have a great afternoon and we look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow.

All our love, Darren, Pooja, Pauline and Ryoan
