Fruits and Vegetables

Good morning everyone! It is another beautiful day and the Buds class children are all ready for our new learning experiences. We have our scooping and pinching activities on the table with trays of pine cones, artificial leaves and some sea shells and stones. We practiced our pinching and scooping activities for the day and it was amazing how some of us were already good in doing these types of fine motor skills. On our art table, we continued to work on our animal sculptures because some of our friends were not able to finish them from yesterday. It was a very easy activity but of course most of us are not coming to school every day so we have to take the chance of finishing the art work while we’re here.

During our circle time, we talked about the different food that we can get from the farm. The story was about the daddy and his daughter. They both went to the supermarket to get some food that they can take home.  We already knew some words that were presented to us and there was one thing that we particularly noticed.  All of the fruits and vegetables belong to a particular color. For example, carrots, orange and pumpkin they all have their common color same goes with eggplant, purple cabbage, grapes and sweet potato. There were also apple, strawberries and red pepper. So, our teachers put three plates on the floor. The plates have colors too. We saw the orange, red and purple plates.  We sorted all the fruits and vegetables and put them on the plates according to their color. We did a wonderful job by sorting everything out and it was amazing how we were able to finish it with little help from our teachers.

After our circle time, Sayaka read us a Japanese book. It was all about the sweet potato and it was very interesting for her to share this story with us. And then, we also practiced singing our Halloween song. We sang “Go away, big green monster!” It was a cool song and we tried to put our own version into it. We said “Go away, scary John!” and we all laughed. On our way to the park, we found houses that were prepared for the Halloween. There was one house that’s near the old wooden storage, and they put some scary Halloween designs in front of their door. Our teachers asked us if we wanted to go inside the house some of our friends said that they liked to go but others refused and they said, “It’s a scary house.”

Thank you so much again Ohana for the great day! We are excited to see you at Tokyo Tomin Bank at 8:15 AM for our sweet potato digging.

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds class 2015-2016 J
