Where can we see water?
Dear Flower Class parents, Thank you for a wonderful day yesterday. It was great weather and many of the children came in this morning eager to talk about the sports day and their favorite activities. This morning on the main table we saw the big group artwork with the penguins we filled in with cut black and grey paper last week. Today we saw a big walrus on the picture and used scissors to first cut some brown pieces of paper from the magazines on the table. Once we had cut them we glued them onto the picture and tried to stay inside the walrus lines. The big easel whiteboard was very popular today with many of us drawing pictures while others started copying letters and names from the sign in sheet. On the small white table we saw the memory game where we needed to remove the caps to see the pictures underneath and match them to the second picture. We needed to remember where many of the pictures were so that we could match them. On the second table we made some ocean creatures wit Ayaka using the small origami paper. After returning from the park which was nice and warm we went straight into circle time. In circle time we looked at a book called ‘Mike’s Bulldozer and the Big Flood’. We learned how too much rain causes a flood and the river banks can break and flood houses. We saw the river in the book and thought about where else we see water and made a big list by going on a water hunt around the school. We visited the office on the 3rd floor as well as the outdoor space there. Here is a list of all the places we found water (some of it mixed with other things):
Ocean, River, Puddles, Lakes, Ponds, Seed trays, Maryna’s Spinach and Apple Juice, Tap, Toilet, Water Bottles, Washing Machine, Raindrops, Watering Can, Coffee, Paint, Glue, Vase, Egg timers, Wet Tissues, Plant Pots, Ice, Markers and the classroom Fish tank. Wow, a big list already! We compared our list of where we could see water in the school and soon it was time for lunch.
Have a great afternoon and we look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow.
All our love, Darren, Ayaka, Maki and Ryoan.
