Our miniature aquarium
Good day Thursday! We are back again at Ohana and we’re all so excited to learn and experience such wonderful things and moments with our friends. It was a rainy day too but we’re indeed unstoppable from having fun and
rediscovering amazing things in class. Ritsuka and Yurika came early and they were both excited to find out what activities we can do for today. Yurika went straight to the kitchen play area and found some fruits and vegetables that she can cook for her friends. Ritsuka came with her and she tried to help her get the necessary ingredients for the new dish. We had some toy knives in the cupboard and some plastic food toys that were detachable ones. Hence, we could easily cut them using the toy knife. It was so charming because seeing the both of them cooking and sharing toys together can develop their cooperative play. They already have shown teamwork which is very significant for their social and emotional development. Lucy came next and she couldn’t wait to explore her surroundings. She went
straight inside the classroom after saying “bye” to mommy and her brother in the morning. Our teachers needed to remind her to do her morning jobs before getting herself occupied with the activities in store for her. Jack
came too and it was somehow a quiet day for him. He still enjoys the class and the company of his friends. Kaia was wearing a red skirt today and she loves to flaunt it in front of everyone. Anneke was so excellent today. She was cooperating the whole time. She slowly learns how things and routines are being done in the classroom. We would like to let you know that you’re doing a fabulous job! After some classroom exploration, Lucy had a great idea! She suggested if we could have a picnic. Thus, we put out the picnic mat and lay the basket full of food and started singing “We’re having a picnic, a picnic, a picnic. We’re having a picnic, a picnic today.” Then Lucy took
out the bear hat and she put in on John. She used a connecting block that looks like a hair brush and she started brushing the bear’s fur. It was so hilarious! Lucy has vast imagination and she enjoys being creative and playful. Rupert and Yurika got some head dresses too. Rupert wore a cool helmet and Yurika kept on changing her
hairstyle with the wigs that we have in the white box.
In our circle time, Maryna helped us today. She was there to sing and play with us. It was so nice to have her in class because her smile radiates everywhere and it gives us a lot of positivity. We started singing the “Good morning” song and we all learned our names one by one. Anneke, Lucy
and Jack just had a few weeks with us but the children who have been in Buds class for a long time know them very well. When we all said “hello Lucy”, she gave us a beautiful smile. We learned how to count and our teachers asked us to count our friends. We all did an awesome job. Also, today was raining and we thought of getting an umbrella. Lucy said that she liked to give everyone an umbrella so she pretended to hand a big umbrella to her friends and teachers. Yurika and Ritsuka copied her and they were so
elated and ready to dance in the rain. But of course, we just pretended that it was raining inside the classroom.
On our activity tables, we were about to finish our miniature aquarium. We colored the clownfish, stamped some bubble wrap patterns, ripped and pasted colorful tissue paper on the tissue box and put on wooden sticks on our ocean art. Kaia was very good in pressing down the tissue paper. She said that she’s making some seaweeds and we let her finish doing the activity all by herself. Bravo, Kaia!
We didn’t go upstairs for water play today but we were able to play and go under the tunnel. We have a tunnel made of blue cloth and it was so fantastic because we were able to get in and out of it smoothly. We also learned how to take turns. We lined up and patiently waited for our friends to enjoy the tunnel game all throughout the day.
Thank you so much Ohana for the joyous experience that we have for today. See you all again tomorrow!
Lots of love,
John, Goh and Maryna
