Bye Bye Nile
Today was a sad day for us as we had to say Bye-Bye to our dear friend Nile. Today was Nile’s last day in Flowers Class with her friends. We will all miss her very, very much and hope she comes back to visit us soon. Nile will be going to another school after the summer and we were very lucky to receive a gift each from Nile today. Thank you very much Nile for the potato snacks. They were very yummy. On the main table many of us were making birthday cards for Goh San, John, Sharee and Liezel whose birthdays fall in the summer months. On the second table Ayaka
showed us how to make a small piano with the notes and we then attached
small animal pictures to some of the keys which would allow us to play the Do, Re, Mi song. Next to the paper piano keyboard was a small electronic keyboard which we could use to actually play the correct notes. It was great to use our fingers just like we were playing a big piano. Gaby enjoyed using the pots and pans, harmonica, castanets and whistles to make lots of music on the carpet area. Unfortunately we couldn’t go to the park today due to the rain and so we had an extended free play time. After eating snack we did a solo performance each in front of our
f
riends. Ayaka sang the Ohana song and Jeremy did a magic disappearing thumb trick. We had a good time and then we all got together with the girls performing the Ohana song together and then doing a curtsey at the end. The boys posed as ‘Spiderman’ and sang the Spiderman song together. In the circle Ayaka showed us how the piano notes relate to the words for the Do, Re, Mi song and then we moved to the table to do 2 different activities. On the main table we saw some foam picture frames along with some sparkly jewels and
glue. We each made a picture frame for ‘Father’s Day’ on Sunday this week. To make the frame we firstly chose
some of the jewels and glued them onto the frame to make it look pretty. Then we took a photo of ourselves and carefully glued it onto a piece of cardboard. On the back of the cardboard we wrote a message to our daddies saying we love them or Happy Father’s Day. We will give the frames to our daddies on Sunday and they can hang them up. Jeremy told us he would ask his daddy to hang it in his new car! On the second table we had another
activity to make an origami piano. We chose whichever colored origami paper we wished and then folding carefully made a small piano each. We gathered in a circle on the carpet and said our final
“Goodbye’s” to Nile and sang our special good-bye song to her. Nile then very kindly gave us each the gift she had brought with her in the morning. Thank you Nile, we wish you all the best for the future and all our love.
Have a great weekend,
