Happy Birthday Nile & Kosei
Today we celebrated Kosei and Nile’s birthday’s in the classroom. Yaeko (Kosei’s mother) and Nana (Nile’s mother) brought us some wonderful yummy snacks to eat too. Thank you both, the children loved all of it and ate the entire lot. In the morning on the main table we made pins for 10 pin bowling using plastic bottles, tape, markers and decoration items to put inside them. Some of us made these yesterday and so we decided we wanted to use the corkboards, small nails, hammers and wooden blocks to make pictures. On the table next to the corkboards were set up
two crowns for our friends birthday’s to decorate. Claire, Lucinda and
Tokutaro very kindly helped decorate them with colored pencils, sparkly pens and markers. On the carpet area we noticed a skeleton floor puzzle which we managed to put together. Tokutaro and Nile noticed that it was almost the same size as them and lay down next to it for a photo. Once we had completed our pins we then took them to the carpet area too and lined them up ready for a game of 10 pin bowling. We selected a ball each to use and then made a nice line to take turns. It was a lot of fun playing together. After packing away the toys we looked at
the calendar and sang a few songs. Soon it was time for Nile and Kosei’s birthday party. We put out the chairs and soon the mommies arrived with lots of fruit and a big cake for us all to share. We started by singing the Happy Birthday song and then we gave both Nile and Kosei the cards we had made for them as well as the crowns. Yaeko then read a great book called ‘What’s faster than a speeding Cheetah?’ which told us all about fast animals and machines. Thank you for the book Yaeko, the children love it. Nana then read a great book
all about how they celebrate birthday’s in Africa. The book showed us how there are bicycle taxis in Africa. Thank you for the wonderful book time. We then moved to the table to eat our yummy snacks. Unfortunately we couldn’t go to the park today because of the rain and had two great activities in the classroom. First Ayaka asked us all about sports and showed us some pictures of team uniforms including: Soccer, American football, baseball and even cheerleaders. Ayaka then showed us her Japanese Soccer team shirt which we
loved and noticed the Japan flag on the front. We then broke into two groups, one on the table making our own team uniforms using garbage bags with holes cut for the neck and arms. The second group stayed on the carpet to try some yoga poses. We used tape, colored paper and paint markers to decorate our own team uniforms and posed with our friends for photos. On the carpet we enjoyed doing Yoga poses with our friends. We chose from some yoga cards which poses we wanted to do and tried the following poses: the bridge, the dog,
the mouse, a bug, a table, a butterfly, a turtle, a fish, a cat and a waterfall.
Have a great afternoon,
All our love, Ayaka, Darren, & Liezel
