Treasure Hunt and friendship in the park
Another beautiful day, blessed with weather again at Ohana! This morning when we
came in to class, we saw a semicircle and a trapezoid made out of construction paper on the table along with buttons and sparkles. So we used glue to stick some buttons and sparkles on the semicircle. We put two shapes together and what did we make? A CUPCAKE!!!! Making yummy yummy cupcakes was a perfect way to end
our week as a baker followed by pancakes and waffles. Chloe enjoyed putting many buttons on, and Sofia was very careful picking out which sparkle she put on the cupcake, while Lisa was trying to pick up all the sparkles from the table and some spilled sparkles that were on the floor. Then she thought putting sparkle on her nose was a fabulous idea!!!
During the circle time, we had a music session with Sayaka. Sayaka explained how to use each instrument and we played to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” both in English and in Japanese, and also to the “ABC
song”. Some of us used a drum and tambourine, but Yurika, Yuu and Taiga enjoyed using the bells the whole time, while other friends liked to switch around the instruments.
After we put away the instruments nicely, Sayaka took out many items all in PURPLE.
Maki and Goh hid the items in the class and we tried to find them all. Sofia who went first found the purple teddy bear with in a second, and Yurika found a bowl on top of the book shelf and tried to reach it with her tippy-toes.
It was such a beautiful day today so we hurried to the park after our snack time. Lisa enjoyed deflating and inflating the small ball, while Taiga enjoyed playing soccer. After a while, Alexa
came to join in, and shared the ball with Taiga. Taiga would kick the ball to Alexa, and Alexa would throw the ball very high and far for Taiga to chase and catch.
Yurika, who saw a big girl from Flower class climbing up the slide thought it would be nice for her to give it a try too. When Alexa saw Yurika trying, she came and showed us how it’s done. With some help from Maki, Yurika was able to climb up to the top too!!!
Since it was such nice warm weather, we couldn’t resist to play a little with the water. Nikolas kept filling the cup with the water, poured it out in the sand box, and ran back to the fountain again!
Kaia and Chole followed each other in the park almost the whole time! When we arrived at the park, they started with their favorite spot, the slope of the stairs; then to the monkey bars, to the bench by the swing, up the hill and down the slide, and so on.
We had not only one, but TWO special guests at the park. Rupert and Sofie! Nikolas and Taiga were so happy to see Rupert, they all sat in a circle at the sand box and shared the toys Rupert had brought from home.
Lisa, Kaia, Alexa, and Chloe were so excited to see Sofie so unexpectedly. Everyone was running after Sofie and followed what she was doing. Once Sofie started to climb up the side of the big slide, they all tried to do it, and were so happy to reach the top!
There is no greater joy for the teachers to see children making connections with each others, without any assistance from teachers, all by themselves. And we always influence and are influenced by one another. Friends are always the greatest teachers of all!!!
Have a great week end everyone, and hope to see you all again next week!
Lots of love,
Sayaka, Maki and Goh
