Tasting activity, waffle making and the purple page
Hello Mr. Sun! What a bright Thursday we have for today. Ritsuka came early and she started doing some table activities like putting the buttons on and belting.
Today, we also had our group teaching wherein we were divided into three groups and each teacher will have their own special activity to do with
us. First, John did some waffle making with us. He showed us the different materials that we needed to use. We saw the bowl, the egg beater, some powdered mix, milk and eggs. Then, we had a chance of putting the eggs, milk and mixture all together. It was very fun for us because we can ask our mommies or even daddies to do this mixing with them at home. We loved doing it at school and we can’t wait to taste them with the maple syrup.
Rupert was so concentrated on mixing and he seemed to like to use the egg beater all the while. Lisa and Alexa have done the mixing yesterday so they knew how to do it very well. John showed us the sand maker or waffle maker. It was a very small device. But then again, our teachers told us to be very careful not to touch it because it was hot. We totally understood it and we really sat on our chairs and tried to focus more on our mixing.
On the other table, Maki continued doing our color book with us. She showed us the pansy, purple glitter and some leaves that we can put on our purple paper. We definitely learned this color because we used almost everything purple in this project. The pansy looks very beautiful and we like the idea of putting more glitter to make our paper look even shinier than before. Leanne liked to stick and design her page more. Chloe and Ritsuka were very quiet but they made sure that their art works would look
beautiful, so they followed our teacher’s instructions and put in their own creativity into their art. It was a lovely and cute moment for them because they have explored how to be artistic with their work.
The last activity that we had was the tasting activity. Sayaka prepared some things for us to taste. Of course, we learned the different tastes like bitter, sour, sweet and salty. For bitter, we have instant coffee, and for sour we have lemon, for sweet we have maple syrup, and of course, salt for salty. When we started the activity, we all sang the “good morning song” with the tune of happy birthday. And then, Sayaka showed us the food that we’re all going to taste. Sofia said, “lemon”, Nikolas just looked and smiled dearly. Kaia chose the color of the plate and spoon for her to use. We then all smelled the coffee before
tasting it. We really liked the smell of the coffee. Before trying to taste the lemon, we washed it first and of course, our teacher helped us with the washing.. Sayaka asked us what they liked to taste the best…Kaia said, “coffee”, Sofia and Nikolas replied, “salt”. Our teachers were expecting that we’re going to like the maple syrup more. But apparently, salt and coffee won the hearts of Buds class. And to our surprise, lemon was not bad too even though it was very sour.
After the group teaching, we all had a great time eating a small bite of the waffle. Our teachers told us that we’re going to take some of it home and we think that it was a great idea so that we could share it with our parents and siblings. We would also like to know what they think about our cooking. We’re very sure they are going to love it. Ritsuka was waiting for more waffles and Nikolas was asking Maki and Sayaka if he could get more. Our teachers explained that we’re going to have them once we get home.
We went to the park today. It was very sunny and cold. We love this kind of weather wherein we can play with our friends and enjoy every minute of it. We also noticed that Alexa is making some friends too. We saw her helping out Sofia putting her shoes on. Great job Alexa! We also played with Petals class. We went to
the vacant lot on the other side of the park and we played the “bubble” game and “What time is it, Mr. Wolf?” We had a good laugh. What a great time we had again in Ohana!
Thank you so much teachers for the wonderful time! See you again tomorrow!
Lots of love,
John, Sayaka and Maki
