April 3 – Hanami and Spring Field Trip

Hello everyone! What a marvelous day we have again! Do you know why? It is simply because that we went out for an excursion. We do this at Ohana every year and it was such a good opportunity for us to appreciate the beauty of the sakura trees this time around. We went to Kinuta park and we excitedly went with our parents and we were also very happy to see our teachers. When we arrived at the good spot in the park, we noticed that our teachers brought some picnic mats, balls, parachute cloth, sacks and musical instruments. The Taiko drum was very popular. Most of us Buds would like to try it because we love to make rhythmic sounds that we could dance to. The Petals and Flowers classes were also very interested in the drums. Thus, we had to take turns in playing and making music. We also blew some bubbles and Sofie was so thrilled to pop them all as she ran and chased after them.

The sakura trees were very breathtaking and we sat under these trees. When the wind blew, some of the cherry blossom petals fell and it was like a sakura snow fall. Our parents also loved what they saw in the park and some of them even told our teachers that they want to come back and see the whole place again! Yurika and Alexa loved to make bubbles and the natural wind helped them to make more. Kaia, on the other hand, was busy playing with the taiko drums and she really has this enthusiasm of making music.

And after the great time and bonding with our moms and dads, we all gathered around because Moko and Toshiki with the drums, John on the guitar and Walter with the saxophone performed some amazing songs for us. They were also waiting for some song requests from the other kids so that we could all sing along with great smiles and bring out all the positivity in us.

Shelley made the “Ohana school song” and it has a very empowering message for all of us. And we felt so exhilarated with the tempo and music. It is also a good thing that our school has a great song for us to internalize and apply it in our everyday lives.

We also celebrated Christina’s and Aiden’s birthday today so we sang to them with our warm hearts! Thank you so much again parents for being with us today! And we all hope that we’re going to see you again on our next year’s Hanami!

Lots of love,

John, Sayaka and Maki
