Occupation Charades

DSCF4531On the table today we worked some more on our ‘occupations’ pictures. We had already drawn lots of pictures using a pencil and needed to add some color today with pencils or small markers. Once we had finished our coloring the teachers attached our special occupations photo in the middle. The artwork with the photo will go on the wall with all our friend’s pictures soon. On the second table we worked on some birthday cards for our friends. We could choose whichever coloredDSCF4532 paper we wished and also wrote the words ‘Happy Birthday’ on the cards too. On the carpet Alexis enjoyed using the ‘K-Nex’ construction set to DSCF4534make a giant snowflake by joining lots of grey, red and white sections together. She also had fun spinning it on the central axis like a big Ferris wheel. Jennifer and Olivia moved to the games play table to have a go at a game called ‘Mystery Garden, I see something you don’t see’. We all packed away the toys carefully today and then had our snack. After snack we usually head straight for the park but today we put on our smocks and came to the carpet area to talk about our monthlyDSCF4536 DSCF4540drill. Today we talked all about earthquakes and fires. We went through all the things we should do such as opening and closing windows, protecting our heads and why we should crawl if there is lots of smoke in the room. We all followed the instructions really well and walked calmly down the stairs. The park was very warm and we had a good time playing catch as well as digging in the sand box. There was a big pile of sand in the sandbox and DSCF4543Jeremy made a big mountain with Nanako’s help. After returning to the class we took off our park DSCF4542smocks and are getting really good at turning them the right way around and folding them carefully. In circle time we sang our new song “Johnnie works with 1 hammer” and had a lot of fun doing the actions to the song. We then played a game called Charades where Nanako and Ayaka showed each of us a card with an occupation picture on it. We looked at the cards carefully and then did some actions to see if our friends could guess. We could not make any sounds or speak while doing the actions which was a little hard but we all managed to have aDSCF4547 DSCF4554turn. We enjoyed it so much we asked if we could play it again tomorrow morning. We have Tanaka Sensei’s last class tomorrow before a new teacher comes after the spring break and will be a bit sad. We have made a ‘bye-bye’ card for him which we will give to him tomorrow. Have a great afternoon.

All our love, Darren, Ayaka & Nanako
