Arata's Show and Tell
Gaby, Adam and Lucinda all started the morning on the main table using lots of colored paint. They had white paper and had a great time using lots of colors. Lucinda did a great job painting a blue sky with a big red sun and brown leaves. Next to the painting Eito and Tokutaro wanted to play chess and have now managed to learn how to use the pawns (foot soldiers), the rooks (castle), the knights (on horseback) and the bishop (church man). They have remembered all the moves and we will introduce the queen tomorrow. Well done guys!! On the second table Arata,
Lucinda, Kosei and Adam all
completed their perler beads artwork. It took a little bit of practice and is really good practice for our fine motor control. The perler bead artwork is now on display on the wall. Please take a look if you get time. In the dress up corner Arata and Gaby set up the play table to have breakfast together. It was funny watching them with the toy mobile phones making calls to each other and putting food onto each other’s plates. Riko enjoys dressing up as a pop star and walking around playing the electric guitar. Goh San and Gaby used the fake grass as a play mat for
the animals and lined them all up nicely saying the names of them as they were put in place. After packing away the
toys we started a book together called ‘Brassy the Fire Engine saves the City’. It was quite a long book and we were really enjoying it and decided to save the second half for the afternoon so that we could all start Arata’s Show & Tell. Arata chose which of his friends would guess what he had brought to school and we were all surprised to see Arata had brought something different. He showed us all four cubes which he had made which fit together and can rotate to
show different sides. Each side had a different color on it as well as a nice drawing. He showed his friends up close the pictures by walking around the circle slowly. Arata did really well answering questions such as his favorite side, naming the people he had drawn
on the sides and how he had made it with his mother. Well done Arata, you did such a great job. After Show & Tell we got ready for the park and put our jackets and smocks on quickly. When we got to the park we soon realized it was very warm and needed to take off our coats. We did lots of running and playing and came back a little sweaty
today. We drank some water and then started circle time together. We all sat in a circle and sang a great action song called ‘Johnny works with one hammer’. We had a lot of fun singing and doing the actions
to this song. Next we put out some small teddy bear counters, one for each of us and then thought about the jobs we would like to do in the future from the list we made last week. For example, first we thought “Do firefighters work outside or inside mainly”? We
thought outside and so made a line of bears for jobs outside or inside. We then transferred the final results to the white board as a bar graph. We then thought about job uniforms and did the same thing again, making a bar graph of the results on the whiteboard.
Have a great afternoon.
All our love, Darren, Ayaka and Goh San
