Nutritious Monday
Yay! It was a very calm and quiet Monday for Buds. Sofia and Sofie were so focused with their play dough for they wanted to make pancakes, muffins and cake. And Dominik was quietly reading a book about purple. He was also slowly turning the pages and was looking at the pictures carefully.
In our circle time, we sang our “good morning” song. We
do this almost everyday so that we could have a wonderful and positive morning. We even had to say good morning to our friends and teachers. If there would be any visitors inside our
classroom, we have to do the same. After that, our teachers showed some vegetables. First, John had to give some clues for each and we had to guess what it was. For example, he would say, “This vegetable is orange and long, the bunnies love to eat it”. Sofie recognized the vegetable and she instantly replied, “It’s a carrot!” And we then passed the carrot around and let each kid hold it for a bit. Next, the clue was “It’s round and wrinkled,
it’s like a ball with funny skin”. When the vegetable was taken out from the bag. Dominik raised his hand and said proudly, “Cabbage, cabbage!” He’s very familiar with this vegetable and we felt that this was his favorite too. And the last vegetable that we had today was “green and like a small tree”. Nobody could answer it first but when our teachers showed us what it was, we finally said it was “broccoli”. And yes, it looked like a small tree in the
plastic. Sofia, Kaia, Nikolas and Rei were very attentive during our vegetable lesson and they even touched the vegetable, and giggled a little. Then, John made a “pretend play” for vegetable soup. He asked us to help him with the ingredients. He would call one of the Buds to come to him and give him the vegetable that he needed for his soup. It was very successful because all of us were able to give him the right one. Of course, for some Buds it was a bit challenging so Sofie and Dominik volunteered to help them out.
Next, we also learned a shape today. Our teachers told us to put our index finger in the air and make a big and round motion. We learned that this shape was a circle. We even saw two kinds of circle today, the BIG circle and the SMALL circle.
Our teachers told us to draw a big circle on the white board. Kaia was the first one to do it but she managed to make a small circle instead. Rei, Dominik and Sofia confidently did the same thing. It was really nice how these kids are getting more and more confident in our class. Great job!
Tanaka-sensei was also here again! And that means we’re having our gym class! The Buds were so happy to see him and they all moved with full of energy. First, we did some stretching and basic calisthenics. Sofie couldn’t even hide her big smile in the beginning. Rei was always the one who could get Tanaka-sensei’s attention for she would like to show how good she was with our exercises.
Our activities were fun for we had to walk like a bear, crocodile and a monkey. We also did some rolling on the mat. Tanaka-sensei taught us how to do it first and then we later did the exercise all by ourselves. We also had the color game that our teachers would tell us to find a particular color to touch after walking around the classroom. We found red, yellow, black, pink and orange.
Lastly, we made a big circle and then we all said that this was our pancake. And then, Tanaka-sensei said that we needed to eat our pancakes. Dominik said that he liked to eat it and Kaia kept on eating as well.
It was also a very nice morning so we definitely had a great time at the park. We were first to arrive and it was pretty quiet. And then, our friends from Petals class came after a few minutes and we saw Hana and Lanah playing with the other kids. We missed them both but we are also happy for them because they already moved up to another class.
Again, thank you so much teachers for the wonderful experience that we had today! See you all tomorrow!
Lots of love,
John, Sayaka and Maki
