Recycle art and mystery transportation box.
21 November – Daily Journal
This morning we were busy with junk art and using all sorts of materials to make things. It’s good to take everyday items such as tissue boxes and toilet rolls and decorate them. We used glue and tape to stick things on with and posca marker
to draw and color with.
Some Buds also finished their brown art work for our color books. Brown is a hard color to remember but Riku said it was “chairo” when we asked and then said “brown” after we told him the English as well.
The trains that we had made yesterday were on the carpet for Buds to play with and at first we said no sitting on them but we realized that Buds really wanted to sit on them and we thought it would be fun so we let Buds sit on the carriages and they pretended to
take the train to Disneyland. After someone mentioned that the other day, it has become the favorite destination for Buds to go.
Sam our little magnet friend came out to visit in circle time because he had seen friends taking toys off their friends without asking. The teachers did some role plays about asking for toys and taking turns. Sam was happy that Buds had good listening ears.
One of the train carriages became a mystery box and Buds closed their eyes and tried to guess what they were feeling inside the box. Of course most Buds opened their eyes to help them guess! Once everyone had a train, bus, boat, car or truck, we played a game putting them on our heads, toes, shoulder, ankle cheek and ear. Buds could keep up really well and only ankle was a bit tricky.
‘Transportation Actions’ is a recent favorite action dance and Sofie chose a helicopter today so we put our arm above our head spinning it around and making a helicopter sound.
There was one puddle at the park which lots of Ohana children were playing in so some Buds went to have a look and might have slipped a bit. They didn’t mind and actually we had to coax them into moving away. If they can sit and squat
and play we don’t mind but if they sit in the puddle or next to it then we need to ask them to get up and play somewhere else. Some Buds enjoyed chilling out on the benches after a busy week. We love it in the park when the sun is shining down on us and we are cosy in our jackets and feeling so warm. We want to make the most of this weather!
Have a great long weekend
