Tire track painting and welcome to Maki

17 November – Daily Journal

??????????Today we are very happy to welcome Maki into Buds class. As our numbers are increasing, we need another teacher in the class so Maki will be working in Buds class every day.

Hmmm, why are there paints, cars and trucks on the table today?????????? wondered Buds. Buds chose the colored paper they wanted and then dipped the cars and trucks into the paint. Wow, we could see some really cool tire tracks on the paper. The teachers were encouraging Buds to drive the cars from one side of the paper to another but once they had done that a ??????????couple of times they really enjoyed moving the cars back and forward, back and forward. The truck had a neat tire pattern that stood out compared to the other tires.

Today some Buds enjoyed finding acorns amongst the autumn ??????????leaves and putting them into cups. Once we had collected a few acorns we started crunching leaves. They are quite dry now so make a really good sound and break up into tiny pieces while giving our fingers a good work out.

??????????In circle time today we all sang our names to help Maki learn all Buds’ names. We had a good look at a car and found the wheels and tires and counted how many wheels a car has. Then each Bud took a vehicle from the box and we sang ‘Red car, ??????????red car, what do you see’

We love Mondays because we have gym class. When we moved like a crocodile we had to use our arms to pull our bodies along. Some Buds wanted to ??????????crawl because it’s easier but when we encouraged them they put their tummies on the floor and moved along. We also did rolling for the second time and we could really see the improvement in Buds’ confidence and in their skills.??????????

We haven’t used sand toys at the park for a few days so Buds were happy to see all the toys out and spent a lot of the time in the sand box. Faith was ??????????making a banana cake and Sofie was being careful to use two hands on the shovel to have more control and tip the sand in her bowl. We played a game of hiding Buds fingers in the sand and saying ‘boo’ when they pulled them out. In the end Kaia was burying her fingers beneath the sand.????????????????????

Thank you

Sharee, Sayaka and Maki
