Autumn leaves and Happy birthday Christine

This morning we welcomed Rei into Buds class. Rei is the sister of Arata in Flowers class and will join us every day. Buds were excited to see a new friend this morning and Rei did a great job settling in.

Today after Karl and Dominic played with the sushi, some Buds got busy cooking. The new rice cooker is popular for cooking all sorts of yummy dishes. We often have the lego out but we haven’t had the lego cars out as much so a few Buds were happy to make cars and trains with the lego.

Autumn leaves are falling down. On the art table this morning there were lots of paper leaves on the table. They looked a bit plain so Buds painted them in autumn colors. We started with yellow, green and red and added brown. As Buds put the paint brushes in all the colors we ended up with orange, several shades of brown and dark green. Just what we wanted to make all the colors of autumn.

We had a quick circle this morning counting 11 Buds in class today and singing our name song so Rei can get to know everyone. Then it was time to go up to Flowers class and wait quietly while Darren called Christine to come and help with something. “Surprise” we all shouted and Christine was very surprised. Shelley asked everyone what we should do when it’s someone’s birthday and Petals and Flowers came up with some good ideas such as giving a gift, putting candles on the cake and lighting it and giving cards. So after singing ‘If You’re Happy and You Know it’ that’s what we did.

Lanah chose a book for story time today about a fish looking for a home and then we read a book about some grumpy animals. The farmer had slept in and they hadn’t had their breakfast. Luckily Buds ate their breakfast this morning and everyone is happy.

At the park we collected leaves to take back to school. We found lots of brown and yellow leaves, and some red ones too.
