“We wish you a Happy Halloween, We wish you a Happy Halloween,

May this holiday be fun, For you and everyone

We wish you a Happy Halloween”

Did we have a fun Halloween celebration today? Of course we did! We arrived at school to find our teachers and friends all looking a little different. Why were they different today? Because it ??????????????????????was Halloween and they were all in dress up costumes. We had Alexis who was Princess Elsa; Vincent was Dusty; Lucinda was a little devil; Luka was a clown; Nina was a princess; Koh was a doctor; William L was a fireman; William B was a ghost; Miyu was Wonder woman; Taiyo was a pumpkin wizard; Michaela was a skeleton and a Care ??????????????????????Bear; Lilian was a pumpkin and Daiki was Tomas the Tank Engines train driver. Our teachers were a pumpkin, a witch and a spider. Our mums too dressed up which was great as everyone got into the spirit of the day.

We started off our day decorating our tablecloth with white chalk and crayons. The tables were covered with black paper. We enjoyed drawing on them and then we made banana ghost with Liezel. She cut ??????????????????????the bananas in half and we put dried blueberries on the banana for the ghost’s mouth and eyes.???????????????????????????????

When we were finished preparing the food, we went to the carpet and played until our parents came. We were waiting anxiously for them to arrive and when they came, we had huge smiles on our faces.

This journal will be filled with many photos so please enjoy looking at ??????????????????????them.

We started off by holding hands in an enormous circle and singing when you’re happy and you know it. Instead of shouting “happy birthday” we shouted “happy Halloween”. Then we all sat down together and sang our good morning song. We had to teach our mums and helpers and friends the words so that they knew what to sing ??????????????????????when it was their turn. We all sang “I’m fine thanks, arigatou” when it was our turn. Some of us feel a little shy when our parents are with us at school so our teachers didn’t hear our big voices this morning.

Then we played “Throwing the ball into the pumpkins eyes, nose or mouth”. We each had two paper balls which we had made earlier in the month and threw them with gusto. Then we sang “Knock, knock, trick or treat, who are you” and we said who we were. We all needed ??????????????????????to stand up and dance so we sang “Dem bones, dem bones dem, dancing bones”. We wiggled around like skeletons dancing and had fun. Our next game was a listening and dancing game. On the floor were a whole lot of pictures of things that we could possibly see on Halloween. When the music came on, we danced all around the pictures and when the music stopped, we had to find a picture and try ??????????????????????not to let one of the mums take it from us. The music was great because it was Michael Jackson singing “Thriller”.

Afterwards we played a ‘What’s missing’ game where we had five cards on the floor; we covered them with a beautiful orange sequined piece of cloth and then Shelley or one of us took one away. They lifted the cloth and we had to guess, what was missing! Each time we worked out what was missing. Then we all stood together and sang our ‘Five little ghosts” song.??????????????????????

After we had completed singing all of our songs and played our games, we had one last huge task to do; to break open our “piñata”. It ??????????????????????took so much effort from us and eventually the hero of the day was Alex, Lucinda’s brother who came dressed as a scary ghost. He managed to hit the “piñata” so hard, all the treats came falling out. We each took a sparkly ring, stickers and an eraser and placed them inside our trick or treat containers which we made at school.

??????????????????????We were also amazed to see such a beautiful pot luck snack, prepared by our mums, helpers, dads and teachers. We ate and ate and ate and ate and then our teachers said that we need to go to the park and run around.

When we returned from the park, you won’t believe it, but we still had ??????????????????????space in our tummies to eat our lunch. Some of us only had a small space and some of us still managed to eat our lunch and then have some leftovers. Thanks for an amazing end to the month of October. We had a great month of learning, loving, laughter and excitement in Petals Class. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday for the start of November. Enjoy the long weekend.

??????????????????????Love always Shelley, Hisami and Liezel.
