We like to paint our hands
23 October – Daily Journal
It was a shame we couldn’t go potato digging yesterday but we had a lot of fun at the railway museum. And eating lunch in the train was a great novelty too.
At the art table there were some large cardboard boxes. Buds had fun painting them. Lanah seemed to enjoy mixing colors on the cardboard. YES! Some buds started painting their hands with the brushes or the rollers and then the cardboard with their hands and the paint brushes. They had colourful hands and were having so much fun.
In circle time today Sayaka had a mystery box but what was inside it? Buds took turns to close their eyes and put their hand inside the box to see if they could guess what was inside. There were all kinds of trains. Today Karl had a special toy that he brought to school; and we were wondering what it was. Sayaka asked about it. Carl showed it us and said, “This is a train!” That train was from the railway museum yesterday. Buds had turns to have look and touch his special train. Who liked the train museum Sayaka aksed and Hana, Sofie and Karl said, “Me!”. We were wondering why Sharee wasn’t here today. Some Buds were a bit worried if she was sick…Sayaka told Buds that Sharee is away. She went to Melbourne for her friends’ wedding. In story time we read “Freight Train” by Donald Crews. There are many colorful trains in the book. Sofie and Karl liked the black train; Lanah and Hana liked the purple one, and Haruto liked the green one. Buds asked Sayaka to read it again.
On the table today we had some sweet potatoes and the teachers helped us to slice them and then Buds carefully put them on the circle rack. Sayaka asked Buds, “What is this shape?” and showed sliced sweet potato, some of the Buds said, “Circle!!” We cooked them and they became sweet potato chips. We used the tongs to put them on a plate. Itadakimasu! We enjoyed having our sweet potato chips
Our fingers got a work out today screwing up newspaper to make balls. Buds made lots of small balls because it is easier with their small hands so the teachers helped make some bigger balls too.
YAY! We had play time before lunch. Haruto enjoyed playing with animals. Some Buds were busy building towers with Lego. When Sofie finished building a tower she said, “Sofie, big tower!” and showed us.
Thank you for a beautiful day even though it was raining.
