Sports Day just before the typhoon

Yoohoo…….we had such a fantastic Sports Day with our mums, dads, some grandparents, brothers, sisters, friends and teachers. It was a wonderful day filled with so many fun things to do; some that challenged us and some that we managed really easily.

???????????????????????????????You can see from the many photos that will make up today’s journal, that we were so happy and filled with energy and enthusiasm. We were also so lucky because the typhoon didn’t come this morning and we were able to have some races on a real race track. We started off with a warm up race and then a sack race. The sack race was a bit tricky because we were inside a sack and had to hold onto the sides ???????????????????????????????and jump with two feet together. We laughed when we fell over and then our teachers helped us up again. At the end of the sack races the rain came down, so we moved inside and continued the event in the gymnasium of Nanzan Shogako.

Inside the gymnasium our parents put their picnic mats down and we ???????????????????????????????then started a few more races. The first one was hurdles; we had to either go over the hurdles or under them and could choose what we wanted to do.

The next race was the egg and spoon race. We had to hold a plastic spoon in one hand and balance a plastic egg on it all the way to the finish line. This was tough as the egg easily bounced off our spoon ??????????????????????onto the floor and we had to chase it and put it back on and continue the race. After that we did the origami race. We had to run with our hands behind our backs and pull a piece of origami off a string, with our mouths. Oh well, you can imagine how hard it was to not use our hands and some of us just had to. We then ran to the finish line with the origami in our mouths.

???????????????????????????????The last few games involved throwing balls into a net. There were two teams, with one team red and one team white. We had to try to get as many balls into our net and then we counted them. Well, the Flowers class counted theirs but we didn’t because it took such a looooooooong time. We also had fun trying to keep a ball and balloon on top of our parachutes and last but not least, ???????????????????????????????we watched our parents take part in a tug of war. Oooooh, there was so much competition. Everyone was really keen to win and they pulled and they pulled and they pulled until………one team pulled the other team across the yellow line……Yay!

Our award ceremony saw all of us going onto the stage and receiving a trophy on a ribbon to congratulate us on all being winners and for ??????????????????????being great sports. Well done everyone and thanks for a wonderful day. We were so glad to have our parents and friends with us for this fun event.

We hope that all our friends and teachers stay safe on this rainy typhoon day. We hope that the rain and wind will come during the night while we are sleeping and we will be able to come to school in ???????????????????????????????the morning.

Well done Petals……you are all champions!

Love always Shelley, Hisami and Liezel.
