He`s got the whole world in his hands

Everyone was super excited to come into school on the last day of school before spring break! Even though it was a half day due to the evacuation drill we still were super busy having lots of fun!

On the sensory table today we had lots of new pasta! Dark green and dark red. The colors are very earthy and help us move into spring. The task was to practise scooping and pouring. N enjoyed collecting little pieces of pasta using his pincer grip! Nice work. K and A were great at using the spoons to scoop up lots of red pasta.

On the play doh table we had the brown playdoh to represent soil and there were lots of little creepy crawlies in the soil. I grabbed all of the bugs and put them in the cookie cutter like it was a prison, so imaginative. S liked to squeeze the soft play dough in his hands and he smiled a lot.

On the front table K spent a lot of time working hard to color in the sakura craft. First we will cover the white paper pink and next semester we will add lots of layers. K was so happy he clapped every time that he finished. R even tried to color some cherry blossoms but she enjoyed collecting the crayons more. L was great at holding his pencil as he colored pink everywhere!

For circle time today we sat criss cross apple sauce as L and K counted how many teachers and how many children we had today. L counted 9 children and K counted four teachers today.

Lucy showed us a globe and she asked the shape and K replied “circle”.

We sang the song “hes got the whole world in his hands” and we had a turn to hold the globe.

Then we sat down and discussed what were some of our favorite foods and toys by singing “i like to eat eat eat…” or “i like to play play play…” to the tune of this song

Lucy showed us some lovely pictures of our Buds friends eating their favorite foods or playing with their favorite toys.

S was really excited when he saw his picture and he said his name in a big voice.

K saw his favorite red shinkansen on his picture and he reached for it. Ichiri said “red!” R saw herself  eating a yogurt and was so happy, she grinned.

After we showed our pictures we did lots of dancing to build up an appetite for snacktime.

Before we got ready to go to the park for early dismissal we challenged our brains and senses by driving the cars on lots of different textures. A drove her car onto the big map of Japan. She drove all the way from Tokyo to Osaka.  L liked driving on the grass texture and N enjoyed the bumpy texture. Lucy then read us a great story about musical instruments and we all had fun imagining what noises the instruments would make. S played the saxophone, K the piano and N the guitar, what a great band!

We hope you have a wonderful spring break wherever you go or whatever you do and we are looking forward to seeing you on MONDAY MARCH 31ST!

Love, Buds
