Classroom Rules
A Terrific Tuesday to everyone!
Petals are getting used to their morning routine, some even asked the teachers to time them as they finish their Morning Jobs. Our day started with creative play, we molded different shapes with our play dough and some friends made food.
E: Look! Cookie!
K: snake!
M: *made heart shape and Nimo asked her to say “heart”
While some friends were playing, R, B worked on their self-portrait.
R: It’s me! ( while looking at the mirror)
B: Two ( when asked how many eyes he has)
R: Orange shirt!
When they finished their crafts, Louis asked to play with the toy cars. Rigel and Peggy excitedly grabbed a few cars and made some car noises.
L: Can I play with this one? (Toy cars)
R: Broom, broom!
P: * made a crashing gesture
For our circle time, we came together and moved to the rhythm of some familiar tunes. Once again, “ The Floor is Lava” topped the request! We also dance another version of the “Freeze Dance” and a faster version of “Baby Shark”.
E/L: I want “ The Floor is Lava”!
L: Freeze dance?
M: Baby Shark!
We then proceeded to the library and Evita read, Manners Mash-Up A Goofy Guide to Good Behavior. This book is about proper behavior and manners in various places. Then she zoned in with the classroom rules.
Bus Manners
E: Bus!
L: School Bus!
R: What’s this? ( pointing to a kid sleeping with mouth open)
Evita: He is sleeping, Do you sleep with mouth open?
L: You have to close your mouth
Cafeteria
E: Look, they are eating.
R: Look, apple
E: Wash hands
L: Drink
R: Water
Evita: Do you say please and thank you?
K: Yes!
Evita: What do you do if you spill your water?
E: Help please, and pick it up
Evita: What if you drop food?
R: Say sorry
L: And clean up
Hospital/ Clinic
Evita: Why do we go to the hospital?
R: Ouchie
Evita: Is it ok to stare at other sick people?
L: No!
Playground
L: (We have to) take turns
Evita: Can you throw sand at your friends?
L: No, because they will get dirty
R: (Sand in the face) Achoo! Achoo!
Classroom
E: Indoor voices
Evita: You also need to use kind words like, No thank you.
E: Why no say “NO”
Esmie: Because it would sound a little mean.
Evita: If I say “It’s mine!” Would that be ok?
R:( We can say) I’m still using it
Evita: What do we need to say if we need something?
E: ( We can say) Can I have this? Can I borrow this?
Evita: How about sharing? What will happen if we don’t share with our friends?
K: I don’t know
R: (We can say) I would like to use this.
L: Our friends will be sad.
Evita: Can you just blurt out the answer?
E: Raise your hand
R: No, Me! Me! Me!
E: Listen to Evita, Nimo, Esmie and Sayaka
Evita: Why do you need to listen to teachers?
R: I don’t know
Evita: If there is fire and you are not listening to the teachers. Will you know what to do?
R: Fire, Ouchie
E: (be)Quick
L: Firefighters will put off the fire.
Evita: It’s important to listen to teachers so we can be safe at school.
L: Yeah, the teachers will be sad.
Evita: Is it ok to be upset?
Petals: NO!
Esmie: Yes!
Evita: It is ok to be upset, but we shouldn’t bite, push, or kick our friends. Can I do this to a friend? (doing a biting gesture)
E: No, No!
Evita: How would your friends feel if you did that?
R: Stop
Evita: Can we kick our friends?
L: We kick balls
Evita: Can we shout?
D: NO!
To encourage reading more, teachers sat down and read the books they wanted to read. Some friends got their life book and happily showed it to their teachers.

We decided to dance while we waited for the time to go home. We danced to the faster version of “ Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” and “ Chuchuwa”.

We had a wonderful Tuesday filled with creativity, movement, and learning. We can’t wait for more adventures. See you all tomorrow!
