Petals Grocery Store!

Welcome back to another day in Petals Class. Our day started finishing our Framed Sakura Tree and using our little fingers creating and strengthening our fine motor skills. Some friends played with toy cars.

Today, R led the Good Morning song. He also asked if we could sing the Ohana song. Everyone had a great time singing the song.
For the past few months, Petals class has been on an exciting journey learning about community helpers. Today we focused on the people who help in running the grocery smoothly- cashiers, baggers, and stockers. Evita introduced the topic by asking everyone what they ate for breakfast. She then asked the class where mom or dad would buy these food that we eat.

R: beep! beep! Then fruit.

Petal: No!

M: Card!
J: Money and receipts
Evita: Who takes the money?
J: Payer man
M: Cashier!
Evita: At the grocery we can also find breads and cakes. Who do you think makes these?
J: Baker!
Evita: What fruits do you see?
M: apple
J: Strawberry
Y: Banana
Evita: What do baggers do?
N: Put things in the bag
Ohana Grocery
After our enlightening discussion, it was time for our hands-on learning. Our classroom suddenly transformed into Ohana Grocery, each child eagerly took the role of cashier, bagger and shopper. With our teacher's supervision, we began the delightful pretend grocery play. Together we scanned items, packed bags and filled our basket with imaginary goodies. It was an exciting way to learn about the important roles of grocery store workers.
M: $1400 please
E: Here you go ( bagger)
T: caterpillar! ( pointing at an apple with a caterpillar in it)
E: I like chocolate cake
J: Irasshaimase!
Gym Class
Today is still a rainy day, so we engage ourselves into honing both our fine and gross motor skills. We started with our stretching and sorted colored rings while hopping on one foot. After the one leg hop challenge, we zoned in on our hand and eye coordination- ring toss activity.
J: not so fast
E: super duper fast
S: green
M: Can I do it again?

What an enriching day it has been. Until next time, keep exploring, imagining and growing.
Love,
Petals
