Got our boarding pass, Ukraine here we come!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Buds friends, we have the talent to surprise our teachers! After yesterday's wonderful flowers, today we arrived in the classroom with cards filled with very touching messages and thoughtful touches! Our teachers told us how touched, proud and happy they were to be our teachers and were deeply moved by the kind messages written in the cards.
Today we took the plane to discover Ukraine with Maryna but before she arrived, we did some activities! At the first activity table there were pegs and we were able to work on our fingers’ muscles by gripping them on various supports, N had fun clipping them on Marjorie's fingers, I on cardboard, T made a chain of pegs by clipping them together and D clipped it on playdough!
Speaking of playdough, that's what we did on the second activity table! M, I and Y had a lot of fun kneading dough and making balls while L and N prepared a feast and seasoned sometimes chicken, sometimes cookies.
Then Maryna arrived and it was time to validate our boarding passes! We saw on the world map where Ukraine was and Maryna told us that it takes 13 hours by plane to get there! It is very far!
Then we talked about what a flag was and we identified the colors Ukraine’s flag, blue and yellow! Maryna said it was blue for the sky and yellow for the sunflowers because Ukraine has a lot of sunflower fields.
Maryna then told us about the food in Ukraine and asked us what we eat in Japan, L said he has shrimp and he loved shrimp! D said he had rice and N said she had pasta.
Maryna showed us a traditional Ukrainian food that often appears during meals, barley! And we can make soba noodles with this type of wheat.
After discovering that in winter in Ukraine it is very cold and that there is a lot of snow, we reproduced in the classroom a very common winter game in Ukraine, the snowball fight! We created our own balls using paper and we started a battle by making two teams, it was very fun!
We finished our discovery of Ukraine by learning a traditional dance and it was time to say goodbye to Maryna! Thank you for this beautiful discovery Maryna!
After eating our snack we went to play in the park and after a good run, we returned to school to eat our lunch!
Thank you for today everyone, have a wonderful afternoon and see you all tomorrow!
Love,
Buds
