Fireworks go up, up, up

Happy Thursday! We had a lot of fun today reviewing and expanding on fireworks and how they can make us feel excited and happy and how darkness makes lights even more beautiful. Darkness can also calm us down.

At the back of the room we had the animal toys. H smiled as he held a big dinosaur. L enjoyed play fighting with the different toy animals.M, I and Ic sat with tamara and pretended to attack her with different animals, it was so fun.

At the back table we had a fun activity. There was a firework pattern on some black paper and the goal was to align colorful pasta onto the lines. A and M enjoyed choosing colors and placing them carefully. S liked to feel the pasta in his hands, he liked the different textures.

At the front table there was another colorful activity. The point was to use clips to pick up pom poms and transport them into a jar. This helps develop fine motor skills and our buds had so much fun practicing these skills. Ic and R together filled the jar whilst E and H enjoyed feeling the soft balls.

We started off our circle time reviewing the actions and songs from yesterday. “Fireworks go up up up” we worked on spreading our fingers and wiggling them. Then we once again practiced counting to five and jumping high in the sky like a firework but this time we added colorful ribbons because fireworks are colorful.

Next we once again explored what different lights make us feel in the dark. The starry night light and the moon were very popular. Everyone was so calm and relaxed but we also were able to let off some steam by “catching stars”. The students jumped up and stretched their bodies. Some of our friends were able to reach. L smiled joyfully as he grabbed the moon and A had so much fun touching the different stars on the wall.H and I were lying down and relaxing and E was staring at the moon light.

After we turned the lights on it was time to explore what makes a firework. Colors make fireworks so we made our own firework. We worked hard to rip little bits of purple, pink, yellow and green paper and stick it onto the firework template below. Of course the older students like M, I and Y, Ic and H excelled at this task but some of our younger Buds also did such an amazing job. S, L, E and L especially were great at ripping and sticking.

On the way to the park, everybody walked. Wow, what progress our Buds have made since august.

We got to the park and we saw our Petals friends AND our Flowers friends. R loved running with the older kids, E enjoyed walking with C, a Flowers teacher. We enjoyed running fast and feeling the cool air on our skin with our older friends.

Have a great evening everybody and we will see you tomorrow.

Love,

Buds
